Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One is the Greatest Entertaintment Device Ever Concieved. Microsoft have Outdone Themselves.

No it's not.

First of all, it isn't actually "All-In-One. You still need your Xbox 360 for backwards compatbility, you still need your cable box/receiver to view live TV, you still need your DVR to record and view your shows.

Second of all, do I even need to address the privacy concerns and anti-consumer policies the console will have? Kinect is always watching and used games can't be lent back and forth between friends. Used game prices will go up, used game trade in value will go down.

I get you like Xbox and the thing looks cool but you need to learn to think for yourself. Don't let Microsoft tell you what to do, you tell them what you want. Now, is it worth the $500 for a voice remote control and not-really-all-in-one Xbox?

Here we go again....thanks for letting us all know about your unbridled enthusiasm for the XB One. Thanks as well (non-sarcastically this time), for this gem: "Now, Bill Gates said years ago that "Software will be the single most important force in digital entertainment over the next decade". Now I am starting to see what he meant by those words." Glad to hear that the brain tumor you must've had has been eradicated, and that the mists obstructing your thought processes are beginning to part as you regain full cognition.

- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."

Well, I'm massively entertained by it already, so you do have a point.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Ok ok, but those it play games?

I think when you insert a game in the machine, it supposedly will start playing the game. Sounds bizzare, I know.

Genious. Someone hand this guy a medal.

I don't know who you are talking to but don't put words on my mouth. The PC is an entertainment platform, period. As it is also capable of doing a lot of other things. Whatever purpose there was behind it's creation is irrelevant, what matters is what it is.

He never said anything about the Xbox One being the greatest entertainment device created/invented.

lol what are you talking about. Read the OP and the title of this thread: Xbox One is the Greatest Entertaintment Device Ever Conceived.

What are you reading? You put words and bring conversations I don't start and then you are oblivious to what OP even is writting. Where did I say that the reason behind the creation of the PC was entertainment? Tell me where did I say that? Whatever purpose there was behind the PC is irrelevant, it is used as an entertaiment machine.

By the way, why does it matter that a video game console was initially intended for gaming?  What the platform is now and what it does is what matters.

I don't know. You are the one bringing the argument having to treat and categorize things because of their intended purpose. You are the one coming with this argument.

I think Micro is doing great, they should keep that direction and focus in entertainment primarily.

Ok, I'll concede the point.  He does say that in the title, though he doesn't say it in the body.

As to the second point, I'm not sure I would have used the words you used, because that wasn't the case.  The fact that devices evolve to become something else doesn't make the general purpose device the greatest thing invented.  A PC isn't made to be an entertainment device.  It has evolved to include that purpose, and with hardware and software, it can fill that role.  A gaming console can still be considered an entertainment device, because gaming is a form of entertainment.  Whether or not the Xbox One is the greatest entertainment device concieved or not, I'm not sure I agree with that.  I personally think the transistor radio had a greater impact because it made entertainment, including music, personal and portable.  Without transistors you wouldn't have anything that we consider "personal" or "portable".  There will be, one day, a new word to evolve the game console into a device class that fits what the Xbox One and likely the PS4 will be.  Because all three are quickly becoming more than a video game console.

Tell me how does the initial purpose of PC keeps me from listening to music, watching films and videos, playing video games, reading books, etc.? The initial purpose is irrelevant to what the PC is right now.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

PC is the greatest entertainment device followed closely by NDS lol

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Xbox One is not an all in one box. That is the PC.

Xbox One however is an all in one entertainment box.

There is a difference.

Damn you win. Xbox One is not only the best entertaintment device ever but the best tangable substance in existance. No way is the PS4 going to be able to compete with it. I mean it can't even skype while playing a game and clean my house so how could it compete. I guess you convinced me to buy the Xbox One no matter what the cost.... happy now.

Dude it's like your preaching about God to a bunch of Atheists, WE DON"T CARE!!!!

You can only speak for yourself bra

Well, as long as it's not an used game or borrowed game (in which case you'd be logged into your friend's account, of course), then yeah, I think it will "supposedly" start playing that game. Quite bizzare, indeed, that we would have these "conditions" for playability once a disc is inserted in the machine, quite bizzare indeed.

Do you work for Microsoft?
