Forums - Microsoft - Xbox not all in one, live tv US only at launch

That's alright. My built in TV tuner sucks and I was looking to get a new one. It has this ghost effect... hard to explain.

Expected, but still is nothing people outside of US will be excited for and therefore not a selling point. I guess the strategy behind the Xbone is trying to get US and then they pay attention to the rest. The rest.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

How do you figure that? Do you realize that MS is one of the biggest software houses in the world?

So tell me: Who or what changed the tv channel when the guy yelled "ESPN" into the micro?

The xbox, but I'm honestly not sure if or how the xbox is able to communicate backwards through the hdmi out port.

Oh, there is already a standard that enables communication across devices with hdmi: hdmi-cec. That is why you can control your dvd-player or bluray-player with your tv-remote. MS just needs a wrapper from voice to cec-commands.

Dude, your tc remote is an infrared emitter.....and as I write above, chances are pretty slim that your average $20 settop box has a bidirectional HDMi 1.4a connector that just happens to say "HDMI out" instead of the right description.

Dude?! I am not your dude. Hdmi-cec doesn't require hdmi 1.4a. And what about this crap about infrared? You don'T seem to understand what I was talking about. For updating your lack of knowledge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#CEC

Historically many consoles don't have all features out the gate. Others will come in time.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Walsufnir, no need to get personal, just offer the info and be peaceful. @your post. that's what I thought all along :).

for those concerned about needing another box i dont think its needed. Just any cable box with hdmi out will work. The xbox one also has an ir output (these come on tv tuner cards for pc's too) and its used to control your sat box through your pc. the ir output emits the same ir signal as a remote control. so all the xbox does is remap the buttons to make it work (like current pc tuner cards do).

"Also seen in the image is an IR output, assumedly for connecting to cable boxes and home entertainment setups."

So, lets add this up. XBL subscription, cable subscription, X1 add on... anything else?

All in one!

Anyway, I'm sure the add-on they're referring to is the cable box itself. But you can add Kinect to the list. And an Internet connection of course.

OT: MS better market the console in Europe from a games perspective, because I'm pretty sure no one is going to give a fuck about changing their TV's UI for another one (if the service ever arrives). I admit I don't understand the US market, but I'm pretty confident when I say that in Europe this is a none-issue and something no one has asked for.

Yes, you are right, it's not worth to behave like I did. He is the one who believes that he has proficient technical knowledge while in the past weeks he especially fails in many disciplines and he still behaves like "I know everything better than you" but I will keep calm - I want to keep my clean record ;)

Surprise surprise, M$ only catering primarily for their strongest user base... the USA.
