For all the "WTF is Startropics?" folks. It was an action/adventure game that came pretty late in the NES's life. Basically Zelda with yo-yos, submarines, amazon tribes and aliens (fuck yeah!).

Don't forget the map...

It was second only to Kid Icarus, and a half step up from Ice Climbers!

There are actually people who want a new Ice Climbers. The only people that are worse are those who demand a Pokémon MMO.

I demand a Pokemon MMO

LOL

This is probably fake, but the stuff he said are not really that far-fetched.

Well, at least the Ice Climbers made it into Smash Bros.  Star Tropics wasn't even that high up the list.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

The "game people wanted us to do" thing for Retro sounds like Zelda.

Although tha would kind of suck because then it won't be out until like 2017 given how long it takes them to develop games. Only 4 games in 16 years. People wanted them to do a Legend of Zelda, except as an FPS.

Personall I think they are doing Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

As one of those  "WTF is Startropics?" folks, thanks for posting it.

So it's an adventure game where we shoot the enemies, collect objects with a long range device and that takes you to several different places...

Ok, it's not the IP we wanted, but it's the kind of game some of us asked. I'm fine with it.

And still no rumors about a new Endless Ocean

I'm going out on a limb and saying that one of Retro's games is going to be Earthbound. I haven't looked at the evidence but Star Tropics just doesn't make sense to me.

a few years back when the Metroid Dread rumors started everyone wanted that game made by Retro so my guess is another Metroid
it even was in development

It's ironic that we're talking about Startropics during a week when anti-piracy and -resale measures are a hot topic from the Xbox conference. But no, I think this guy's made up theory about Startropics is wrong. The only reason it would make sense is Startropics was made in America for America - just like Retro's mission - and it would give them a chance to do Zelda without doing Zelda. But ST doesn't really have much brand value. Retro would be better off doing a new IP.
