It's "something everyone wantes them to do". But you're right. Metroid isn't a good fit for Wii U anyway.

Metroid Prime would be a much better, especially since fans of Retro Studios also tend to be fans of Metroid Prime, so it would be something that most, if not all, Retro Studios fans would want them to do.

Well, supposing this is true, then 3D Mario is coming. They had a whole year unopposed to knock it out of the park and didn't even get the bat off their shoulder, so I don't really see the need for them to go all out in the face of the PS4 and 'bone launches. They are better off having a respectable line-up and weathering that storm, then opening 2014 strong with Mario Kart and the like as per this rumor.

I think Mario 3D ,at least, will be an early 2014 launch to keep the momentum of the holiday boost.

This is the year of Luigi after all.

Retro's working on Star Fox U and Metroid for 3DS. They are also assisting with Mario Kart U. Mario 3D U will be out this November and combines elements from the Galaxy games and 3D Land, but isn't quite like either one. One player can play as Mario on the TV, the other as another character on the Wii U tablet for co-op and versus modes.

Nintendo has more collaborative titles coming from a pretty big Japanese studio that hasn't been shown yet.

Pretty easy to make things up.

Anyone claiming to have knowledge of internal Nintendo development or Retro projects is almost 100% full of sh*t.

Reggie probably doesn't even know what the hell EAD is doing half the time because he's not told. Leaks from Nintendo on the software side almost never (ever) happen and if they do it's at best like IGN or Nikkei reporting something like a day or two before their E3 conference.
