hmmm... makes sense. I acknowledge that in all likelihood we're definetly getting either a 3ds or wii u metroid (prbly 3ds). But still, after 8 metroid games in a span of ten years (3 from retro, plus the compilation), someone must be getting sick of the franchise. Plus miyamoto has this odd star fox fetish he always discusses the fox; he won't let him die like Icarus (in my opinion) so he's going to get Retro to do it for him. We'll get a 3ds metroid, but it won't be anywhere near as ambitious as a star fox that uses the gamepad. Everyone wants a star fox rehash in old fashioned fly a ship and kill form. we haven't seen one in ages, and typically went nintendo makes a major remake of a game (Star fox 64 on 3ds) they release a sequel.
I'm not too sure about the truthfulness of this rumor.
Along with other stuff already mentioned, why would 2014 be the year of Yoshi? This year of Luigi has significance; Luigi exists for 30 years this year. The year of Zelda in 2011 had significance; it was the franchise's 25th anniversary. 2014 would be nothing for Yoshi; Yoshi's 25th is in 2015, 25 years after Super Mario World in 1990.
i dont care if they dont release new 3ds games after they reelase pokemon :P

I agree that Retro is working on Starfox. I seem to recall rumors like that last year sometime, shortly after Miyamoto expressed surprise that anyone wanted another Starfox game. I think retro is a good fit for this game, as I think Starfox has a greater appeal to western audiences than it does to Japanese ones.

I dont see how Mario U will be a open world game...Miyamoto would never allow it ..he was against a hub world in SMG2 and now a opet world game ? lol sounds like a fanboys wet dream.

There needs to be a lot less Mario and Zelda, and a lot more new and old (unused for too long) IP's. Nintendo isn't going to get the Wii U or 3DS into the hands of the wary and naysayers using Mario. They need to dig deep and revive stuff like Star Tropics, F-Zero, StarFox, Doshin the Giant (would seem perfect for Wii U, especially if online), Geist, Eternal Darkness, Mach Rider, Advance Wars, Battalion Wars, Mach Rider, Punch-Out, Golden Sun, Ice Climbers, etc.
Also, I think it's high time Nintendo just merge with, or outright buy, Sega.

You forgot Mach Rider. (Seriously though, that game has a lot of potential to be reimagined.)
Mario Kart U only next year?...NOOO!
Doesn't Nintendo NEED that game in time for Christmas?...I'm not so sure WiiFit still has what it takes to be a true system seller.
Sounds like a strong second half of 2013 if true, however, I would really like to see a game that pushes the WiiU hardware. A new killer IP would be nice, but I would settle for a Metroid game.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.
