If you want story, look at something else. Go play some other FPS like Far Cry 3 or Halo or Fallout. COD is NOT a single player game and it is not meant to be. It is through and through a MP game. Only get it if you are into multiplayer and co-op because COD's MP is what gives it it's success and the co-op experience in Zombies is quite amazing. But single player, just no.

More people will watch the launch yes, but honestly, do you want the Xbox to be considered as the multiplat console once again?

After all, the biggest audionce of the show will be people who are already deep into gaming, like the gamers on the internet. Don't you think the GAF people will complain if MS only showed say two core exclusives? They will say that MS relied on COD once again.

From an economic POV it's a good move, but remember the respect factor. Gamers all around the world are upset by the focus on multiplatform games.

To defend MS for a second, they have been investing in two or three exclusives. Lets hope they are good and sell or else Microsoft will drop them all and depend on third party again. The reason I have hope is this is a fresh team built by Microsoft (not purchased by them) to make a game. Microsoft is better with companies they own than companies they buy. The free thinking ideals dont help with them.

MS invested in two or three exclusives, yes probably more than that, but how many will be revealed on the 21st of May?

Sony revealed 3 core game exsluvies, correct? (Ingamous, Killzone, Drive Club).

Its like a six hour high budget michael bay action movie. Black Ops 2 had one of the best scripts that the franchise definitely needed. Very linear and holds you by the hand, but fun for what it is its pretty good. I am into storylines in games but most of my friends are into the multiplayer first. I am more of a battlefield guy though. COD is kind of run and gun but its fun to play with a group of your friends just to see who can rack up a kill count.

Story: COD> Battlefield

Multiplayer: Battlefield>>>>>>>>COD

Yeah...but my feeling is telling me thats only half of their PS4 launch exclusive titles. Their big ones will be at E3. They want to catch MS off guard, which is why they demanded Microsoft show their Xbox first. MS didnt follow them, so they had to restrategize showing part of what they've got at their unveiling.

So far the Black Tusk game is the only core exclusive I know for sure being internally made by Microsoft. Forza will more than likely show up as well with a new engine.

Yeah, the scripts arent for the faint of heart. COD MW2 got in big trouble with media because it makes you act like a terrorist killing people at an airport.

But but STAGE said... Argh! I already played Halo and really don't like crytech-games... Fallout is to be played, of course, also Bioshock. Perhaps I will still buy some CODs if they are very cheap. But also to you, many thanks for your opinion!

COD gets a bad rep because it doesn't bring anything new to the table. Its a very cliche, formulaic game but it does the story better than the competition. COD is mostly played for multiplayer much like Halo and its run and gun action though.

The console market is expected to shrink or maintain the same volume next generation, so Respawn's shooter and the new CoD will only cannibalize each other.

Furthermore, CoD has always had a close relationship with Microsoft, so it's nothing new. New Halo games are certainly also in the pipeline. There's Battlefield as well, the upcoming Destiny from Bungie and then other FPS series that don't sell as much. Black Tusk's new IP might be a FPS as well. As hungry for FPS games as Xbox's audience is, there won't be a market for all of them. At least not to the sales extent their publishers are anticipating. Since I'm also expecting timed exclusivity on DLC for Microsoft, it seems that too much money is being thrown around to secure IPs that will eat into each other.

This reveal is not as big a deal as people make it out to be, but the brightness of the hype is blinding it seems.
