Nintendo is one of the worst when it comes to evolving with their franchises. NSMB has released the exact same game 4 times, Zelda, Mario Kart, and Pokemon haven't evolved in the slightest since their inception. Oh and comparing Uncharted to Tomb Raider and God of War to DMC? You clearly have not played those games or else you wouldn't making such ridiculous statements. Your whole logic is ridiculous, old school games are better simply because they're old? That's why Nintendo games aren't evolving, because their fanboys get upset if even the slightest change is made to a 20 year old franchise. Maybe you're right. In fact let's go back even more, screw home console, let's just have arcade machines that charge us 50$ in quarters when we want to finish one game. The older the better right?

You whole comment makes no sense to me
I know that this reply will look like a fanboy reply to you but since I own Sony and Microsoft consoles and play their games I actually know what I am talking about its not. I see it in all objectivity.
I mean I could whine at least 1 hour about whats wrong with Twilight Princess or Skyward sword and what they could do better. (no more ugly chicken people with boobs please, more holes in the ground like in the past MORE to explore in general please! no empty world like in TP please and not skyloft area thats basically a MENU screen like in NSMB with "3 levels" to chose from. I want a connected world please!!!!!! I could go on and on etc!!!"
Mario Galaxy has crappy controls that sometimes get inverted as soon as you let go of the analog stick while you are running upside down on planet-like object etc etc etc...
Why does Nintendo remove maps in every Mario Kart game? And why do they remove battle modes? Why is there no Gamecube bomb battle in Mario Kart Wii? Why do Smash Brawl and Mario Kart Wii have this shitty time limit when you want to play online? Chose level 20 seconds, chose character 10 seconds WTF?!? So There is a ton of stuff I could complain about. Why are VC games so overpriced 5 euros (6,5? dollars was 7 in the past) for a NES game really???
NOW TO MY ACTUAL REPLY
Nintendo franchises do evolve and thank you for using my "dont lookt at NSMB" its 1 series. How is GOW any different from GOW2? Its negligible differences same goes for NSMB series well at least part 1 on DS was single player and the second one on Wii already had 4 player coop thats a bigger change than any GOW game had compared to its predecessor.
Mario went from a 2 player arcade game to a game that basically made the jump&run genre to a game that defined how 3d games should work. To a game that takes place in space and is up side down inside out etc. YOU seem to have no idea at all.
Zelda evolved and especially comes up with different art styles almost every time. And gameplay wise? How is Zelda 1 the same as OOT which invented lock on and day/night cycles etc? and how are the DS games the same as Majoras Mask? Only outsiders think they are the same games.
Mario kart did evolve racing and came up with the fun racers. It made vehicular battling popular came up with 2-players on 1 kart on GameCube or flying around with kites on and driving underwater in 3DS it allowed you to drive bikes on Wii etc. THIS IS evolving. In Gran Turismo I can drive with 2011's Mercedes compared to 2008's Mercedes in the old Gran Turismo WOW!
There is not much you can do with a racing game especially when its as good as Mario Kart and already includes multiplayer time trails battles etc items. What do you expect lol? Driving 3 rounds and then ending up on a table top game and then having Mario Kart Party? And then battling Bowser as the endboss Mario 3D style while still being in the Kart? lol
Pokemon also evolved it allowed you to take Pokemon with you on the small tamagotchi style thing so you could find other pokemon and train yours while not even using the DS.
Pokemon Black/White 2
There is an area in the game called Join Avenue. "The person who runs the place is apparently in over his head, and has asked you to take over as manager and help bring the building to life by populating it with merchants and customers. You do this by inviting people you’ve battled against, traded with or met via Tag Mode to join in on your little social experiment. The more people you meet the livelier the place will become, and the more you’ll be able to upgrade the variety of shops that pop up, which sell all manner of cool items you can’t get anywhere else in the game."
"In PokeStar Studios you make shoot short movies with your favorite Monsters" There also is the Pokemon World Tournament where there is constantly a Tournament where you can participate and fight almost every Pokemon-Trainer you met in previous games. The pokedex has the HABITATE FEATURE etc. There is tons of new stuff in the newest Pokemon. Even some older games had new featuers like 4 Trainer Battles etc.
How is this not different from old Pokemon games? You never played the new ones enough to even understand what they are about.

And if you see no similarities between Devil May Cry and God of War or Tomb Raider and Uncharted then I am sorry noone on earth can help you. I OWN all 3 Uncharted games I also own several GOW games including 3. BTW I am not talking about DMC I am talking about the old PS2 games (never played the new DMC game)
This part here " Maybe you're right. In fact let's go back even more, screw home console, let's just have arcade machines that charge us 50$ in quarters when we want to finish one game. The older the better right? " Seriously? Why do you reply for the sake of replying? Dont just type random stuff that makes no sense lol because you are bored etc.
I was talking about the feeling older games have. That just a few modern games have. I know that alot of people put alot of effort into stuff like Battlefield 3 or Uncharted etc but those games feel totally flat. (I am talking about the single player aspects of those games) Games like Fire Emblem awakening (got it 4 days ago and already played 40 hours!!!) still have that charme, even Skyrim with all its flaws and crappy menu (because of being a shitty console port for a PC) somewhat has it. Thats why its one of the few PC games I played like an addict.
I am still not able to explain that feeling but they feel like there was effort put into them they make you feel comfortable etc. This has nothing to do with bullshit like going back to arcades lol the arcades were mostly before the "glorious age". I am talking about games like Final Fantasy 7 etc.
Alot of games were alot better back in the day. Command&Conquer became shit. The first 2 Age of Empires games were the best. Also good were Empires DMW and Empire Earth but Empire Earth 2 and 3 were crap too. It is a bit like in the movie industry when the idea of creating something cool gets replaced with just releasing stuff for the sake of releasing it and making money.
I mean just look at all those average games we have this generation and not that they are just average games they suffer from stupid bugs which wouldnt be that much of a problem when they game would be good to begin with (because of time pressure and publishers giving a fück about quality) and then even games like Castlevania have 14 FPS at times? Seriously 14 FPS????? That sould be illegal!
Games get shorter and shorter are sold unfinished with DLC etc etc. Almost all games somewhat lost the actual Value. The whole industry changed from creating entertaining and fun games while earning money to earning money and maybe creating something useful by coincidence. Some companies have the old mentality and you can see this in their games (Bioware is one of those but they are changing right now) And their games give me that "old" feeling it has nothing to do with old gameplay or no evolution or time period it has something to do with the feel you get when you play a game. Again XENOBLADE does not feel old despite its graphics and this game does have that special feeling.
Perfect Dark on N64 had that feeling etc because RARE knew what they were doing. Metroid Prime had that feeling Other M had NOT! And guess what it was not made by an "old mentality" company.
Again I dont know how to explain that but maybe its something you feel when you invested alot of time and put alot of effort in playing games for decades. I mean there is people that drink wine every evening for 20 years and then there is people that do the exact same thing but also really care about wine and want to find out the little nuances that make every wine special.
Maybe I am one of the later people and most players today are just consuming games instead of "experiencing, living" them.
