Nintendo probably embarassed to put Wii U up against PS4 and X720.

Hell Wii U pales even in comparison to PS3 and 360 when it comes to getting multiplats.

Your well thought out and excellently worded post has convinced me that what I mistook for joy while playing on the Wii U is indeed PS4 and X720 envy. I have decided to immidiately sell my gaming system and will hopefully be able to afford and be lucky enough pick up a superior platform in the future.

Thank you for your insight.

To be fair though, it does seem like Nintendo won't have much to show for E3. Iwata did say (a few days ago, if my memory serves me right) that they were behind schedule on many of their AAA outings for the Wii U. Iwata did address some of the concerns people have right now about the system.

So it is true, if we follow what Iwata said, that Nintendo don't have enough to go against the freshness that will be the PS4 and NexBox at E3. The attention will be centered around those 2, that's for sure. Nintendo's turn will most likely come at a later date. Who knows, maybe they'll have a Nintendo World event later on this year. To unveil the next 3D Mario, Zelda (doubtful, because of Wind Waker HD), but hopefully the next Metroid (a personal favourite).

I will also comment on the idea that Nintendo's franchises don't evolve... Most franchises evolve over time. But they're not going to re-invent the wheel everytime they make a sequel. People expect a certain type of gameplay when they get a 3D Mario game, or a Zelda game. That's the same with any franchise for any console. God of War, Uncharted, Fable, etc... They all have to stick to their own working formula, because that's what people expect from them. Condemning Zelda for it, while praising most other franchises is utterly hypocritical at best.
