Forums - Nintendo - Adam Sessler responds to Nintendo not having a large press conference at E3

I can't wait for the E3 Nintendo Direct, I honestly don't see a big difference between a stream of the ND and a stream of a presentation - the ND will cut the useless crap, though.

and that's the difference

Does anyone even care about sessler?

Depends on what he's talking about.

When GoW: Ascension was about to be release he was talking about a game that was too hard and that it wasn't fun (or something along those lines), obviously referring to that game (and many other gaming journalist said the same thing). As you might guess the Sony fanbase start bashing the man and that he sucks and blah blah blah. They say that who cares what he says.

Now that he's talking about Nintendo, the same people that say they don't care what he says are now saying he's completely right. And that the Nintendo fanbase are the ones saying who cares what he says.

So yeah it depends on the subject.

I love how every Nintendo fan conveniently ignores the fact that the conferences are broadcast on T.V networks into people's homes, which is major exposure, a ND doesn't even compare. But yet they hoot and holler and cheer the fact that Nintendo is just rolling over and giving the ball to Sony and MS to completely drown them in the hype. So please keep up the damage control it provides me entertainment SMH.

Why on Earth would an E3 Nintendo Direct not also be included in E3 coverage? I just don't understand this leap of logic that if you take out a 90 minute conference that only the most hardcore gamers watch anyway, suddenly the entire media will just go on a Nintendo blackout. Especially since Nintendo is having an event specifically for the media.

Also, I don't watch Nintendo Directs, and 5 minutes after the last one ended, I knew about Link to the Past 2 because virtually every gaming news site was reporting on it and it blew up. Yet, during E3, no one will be able to see a thing Nintendo is doing LOL

You obviously didn't read my comment, take a deep breath and try again lol

I read it just fine. You say a ND does not reach the exposure of a pre-E3 conference, I was just letting you know how wrong you are.

I said ND does not get the same amount of exposure as an E3 Conference, I never said pre-E3. Also like I stated previously the conferences are streamed live (and re-ran) on national broadcast stations and to my knowledge ND has never been streamed to any network broadcasting stations. So once again read what I said and understand what I'm saying, and you will realize that you are completely wrong. ND is for hardcore fans E3 conferences is for the consumers in general to see what every company is bringing to the table in one convenient sitting.

Technically this DOES have something to do with the PS4/720.  Nintendo would be going up directly against their announcements in the main auditorium.  It appears they are trying to take a side approach to combating the hype of their competitors (spreading out multiple announcements).  Might actually work to their advantage having 5-10 hours of mindshare spread out over days vs going head to head with a 1-2 hour big presentation.

I'm not defending or condemning what Nintendo is doing, I'm just stating a potential reason for the move.  Companies (unlike fans) try NOT to do things based off of emotion.  My guess is that Nintendo has some reasoning behind the move.

WORST case scenario is that they have nothing to show, which seems doubtful.

I haven't been attatched to Nintendo emotionally in the longest and they have me worried as far as a marketing is concerned with the Wii U. Every decision they are making with that console isnt working out.

Hes one of the most respected voices in games and also acts as an voice for the gaming community when Fox news sprouts bullshit about gaming.

Alarming indeed. All I have to say is amen, Adam.

Nintendo is sticking their head in the sand and allowing Sony and Microsoft to walk all over them. They've gone to their special place to hide in their shell. This is not the Nintendo of old that wanted to be seen. If you ask me, it looks like they've given in for the year to look up at giants.

Sorry, but that is just about the single biggest steaming pile of gaming related hyperbole I may have ever read.

Why because everything Nintendo has been doing with the Wii U has helped thus far? Iwata is screwing up left and right.

OMG. I am so worried for Nintendo.

Semantics, we're talking about the exact same conferences, we just word them differently.

I would agree that the typical Nintendo Direct does not get the exposure of one of the conferences the platform companies hold prior to E3. But what kind of gaming news does? Nothing does. Everything is bigger during E3. It's the Super Bowl of gaming. No one is saying that a Nintendo Direct that is published January 17th will get the same press and exposure as a Nintendo conference at E3. What people are logically saying is that a Nintendo Direct published during E3 and made specifically for E3, will get the same amount of exposure and press. Because all of the press is at E3 and everyone will report on it. Furthermore, they are having an event for the media.

So again, where is the logic in assuming that if Joe Gamer goes to Gamespot during E3 to look up some E3 news, they won't see a Nintendo section? And this Nintendo section won't be full of hands on impressions, videos, and tidbits from the media event Nintendo will hold? And what, these news outlets will link to Sony/MS pre-E3 conferences, but they won't link to Nintendo Direct videos?

The average gamer is not going to look through various gaming news websites for information on each platform, and yet they are going to search for and find streams for these 90 minute conferences? LOL
