So Atlus's parent company isn't doing so well. But I'm sure Atlus will be up for acquisition if Index really does fail.

Question is, who will want them? Square?(Oh god no) Sony? Nintendo? EA? (Bioware Japan lolz)

Personally think Sony might take em due to the popularity of Persona on Sony platforms but I don't know. I can see Square taking them as well, but they seem to be more focused on the West these days.

Nintendo seems to also have a pretty good relationship with them, SMTIV, and SMTxFE and all. And they could sure use another Monolith Soft.

Or will it be some other company?

Capcom, or Sega if I remember they're a japanese company that still makes money. Don't really want sony owning things. They already own too much. And they'll just end up having to be bought again in a few years :).

However they're not exactly an aquisition that's exciting financially.

How much did Monolith Soft acquisition cost anyways? That was an insanely good investment.

Having them become an exclusive developer would certainly be extremely interesting. Since I really like Etrian Odyssey and Trauma Center, it'd had better be Nintendo!

But most likely it'll be neither.

Sony or Nintendo, but I could see another company taking Atlus.

Sony is not doing so great financially and I don't know if Nintendo is willing to make the investment.

Sega or Square Enix would both make good homes for Atlus.

IDK but if whoever does buy them makes Persona 5 cross-buy/cross-save for PS3 and Vita then then they have my eternal support.

Sony doesn't have a 1st party JRPG developer for them right? (Or does Square do a good enough job with FF so they don't need one?)

They could really use one then.

Well SCEI developed Legend of Dragoon, which I don't like but a lot of people here love.

I'm not sure their aquisition by sony would be that good though. A lot their games are for DS or 3DS. With so far only catherine, and Persona4 arena (which they didn't even develop) on consoles. Forcing those DS/3DS games on a vita. Would definitely hurt their revenue, and may or may not hurt their profitability.

If they become unprofitable, they could get shut down and I'll be sad.

I guess an aquisition by nintendo makes more sense, and it's not like their console games are graphical power houses either. 

Well if it came down to an auction of IP assets in a bankruptcy settlement:
Bandai-Namco would be the most likely.
Sega would also be a good chance.
Squeenix doesn't have the money to buy anything. lol

The problem is that Atlus as a company doesn't actually exist since a few years ago, it's been integrated into Index. Index has just kept the name label for those games because it's known and markets better that way.
