If the Nextbox and PS4 are $400-$500 than Nintendo will do nothing. If one of them launched within 50 bucks of the Wii U than Nintendo will do a price drop on or just before they hit stores.

$400 is within $50 of Wii U

Only for the Wii U Delux Set. $400 is $125 more than a Wii U Basic Set.

Its actually $100 but I get what u mean now, within $50 of the cheapest sku

Price cut isnt enough compelling titles are a major problem. That and the Wii U is offering a similar product to what has already been out for seven to eight years.

The basic WiiU is already sellling for 200€, what more price drop do you want? I'd buy that model for my parents if it could play Dr. Mario on the Gamepad, be it the WiiWare version or a new eShop one. They were impressed with the browser and Gamepad.

I'm thinking discontinue the Basic, and cut the Premium to the Basic price. Perhaps even just sell the Basic on the real cheap?

But it's games we need anyway.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Not any time soon.

Nintendo are going to wait and see what hardware sales end up as when there are actually games being released for it.

They'll also try a lot more bundles/colours/minor sku changes before they price cut.

This... and I think Nintendo will offer bundles but no price cut. It is early in the generation and when they announce the games, sales will follow.

They can't sit around doing nothing and just wait for Mario 3D and Mario Kart this December when NSMBU isn't doing anything.

The system will be dead if they bet on more Mario + a new paint job on an old Zelda game (that didn't even sell that great the first time around) can't turn around their fortunes.

Iwata has said many times one of the biggest mistakes with the GameCube is they waited too long to price collapse ($99.99) and they wanted to avoid that mistake with the 3DS.

If the yen remains favorable they will drop by August. Count on it.

I don't really buy the "it haz no games" thing either. It has a new Mario, Nintendo Land, LEGO City, Zombi U, Scribblenauts, Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed 3, Need For Speed, Monster Hunter, etc. I mean really, what was it supposed to have? A new Mario and a new Zelda and a new Metroid in the first 4 months? Pikmin 3 would not make a big difference one way or the other.

People just are not as interested in the concept of a $350 machine that has 360/PS3 level visuals and a tablet controller with a low-res resistive touch screen.

I am going to take a guess and say that a possible price drop will be announced at E3 with the Basic 8gb model being discontinued and the Deluxe 32gb model, with NSMBU bundled instead of Nintendo Land, dropped to $299.99. This new price and bundle will be available June 16, 2013. This sounds so cool to me and I would definitely buy the new 32gb model bundle when it came out, if it actually happened. Lol

When I bought my wiiu I could decide:

298€ zombi u deluxe bundle
249€ for the premium
198€ for the basic model

I took the basic model with monster hunter and paid less for what i had to pay for my wii back on release day.
So looking at those prices the wiiu already had an inofficial 100€ pricecut here in germany.

I doubt the official pricecut will be more then the inofficial or at best match the inofficial pricecut at e3.
If they decide to pricecut ... depends on the price of the other two consoles.

edit:
maybe a 3d mario(+kart) will arrive before e3 and with zelda the sales might skyrocket for the wiiu so that nintendo wont see a neccessary to pricecut.
and when the console starts selling pretty well the inofficial pricecut will get droped.
So if you want a wiiu in the near future buy it now. it wont be cheaper then it is now for a long while ...
and if they decide to pricecut have fun with your ambasoder games while still not having paid more then the official pricecut :p

Some retailers in the UK have done Flash price drops, for a couple weeks, Dropping the price of the Premium pack by almost a 3rd in some cases: £300 down to £200.
I think an official price cut it still a little ways off. Sales are hopefully starting to pick up now, with MH3U out, Injustice just around the corner and Deus Ex out very soon. I think Nintendo needs to start marketing its library of Indie games on the eShop. Toki Tori 2, Mighty Switch Force and Runner 2 are reasons enough to buy the system i think, but its the kind of games people only know about once they have the system and browse the store.
