We have tons of great Japanese developers with With great global brand legacy creating these Japan focused anime fetish games. When their not developing these Japan focused anime fetish games they're letting other developers ruin their IP's and damage their reputation, Not localizing anything, forgetting they have a vast amout of dormant IP's, taking centuries to actually complete projects, just general sitting on their asses as they let west pull the wool over everybodies eyes and claim false innovation. Japan is a mess because they have forgotten how to create global games. |
Great post, saved me the trouble of saying a lot of this.
Japan, at least so far as I'm concerned, has far and away the best talent in the industry and the best IPs. The fact that seemingly every game of serious promise, or the fact that every game that seems to get IT when it comes to game design and what players want (often in ways players can't yet articulate) tends to be SERIOUSLY undermarketed and underfunded points to a very serious managerial problem.
They've gotten so scared of taking charge and doing what they do best, and instead cling and use what little they are willing to invest into garbage western imitations.

Yeah, I see tons of copies of these games. Oh wait, no I don't. Each game is innovative, but no one is jumping to copy any of these games either.
Galaxy and Skyward Sword not innovative? I'll just say I disagree and leave it at that.

Xxain comment would have been true if this was before 2013.

This.
If anyone tells me with a straight face that galaxy (both of them) and skyward sword aren't innovative, then I have no clue what innovation means to you.
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M
Innovation for the sake of being new and different is a waste of time and effort. I would argue that the most memorable games are the ones that are the most fun. To the arithmetically challenged user, 2/3 > 1/2.

Its beyond me, but probably because they are Japanese, that they dont realise this. The less games that get released, the few costumers they will enter a relationship with. In short, they really have no clue about business. I dunno what they teach on those Japanese management universities. |
there was a really good article posted in the vita thread a few months back about why many japonese games don't get ported west. it was really interesting and really highlighted why many games can't leave japan.

What Vita thread is this?
| Fusioncode said: The problem isn't with Japanese developers, it's with the gamers. They only seem to want the same games over and over again. Whenever something new and interesting comes out, (that isn't some strange hentai title) it gets completely ignored in favor of the 27th Dragon Quest or the 3rd rerelease of a Monster Hunter game that came out 4 years ago. |
I don't think you realy know what hentai is.

LOL.
Fusioncode clearly doesn't know what Hentai is. Each series only has like an average of 3 episodes. and each series is completely different from all the others.
Plus it's adults only.
I just can't help but LOL at fusioncode comment.
