Forums - Gaming - Michael Pachter: ‘I Don’t Get Japanese Developers’

I just don't get how Patcher thinks that Nintnedo thought grandma were gonna buy a wiiu. Nintendo knew that a lot of the people who bought wii's would never buy a console again and moved on.

Lol.

Since two of the three consoles makers are Japanese, he's basically saying he doesn't understand 50% of his job.

O, Pachter :)

That would actually be 66.66666666667% which makes Pachter the white devil.

I agree with Pachter. I don't like japanese games at all. They should be more like western games so that they could actually sell a bit more.

lol, sorry but this is bullshit talking. almost racism...

EDIT: was meant as a reply to Trentonator

And i doubt Japanese developers "get" him (or if they do, they should tell the rest of us what's up with this guy).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

..needs to be added to the list.  seriously, start listing off all the vaporware in the industry than calculate the percentage that is japan based.

but yes, SE is most of it.

Why did you list those two? Weren't you talking about purely sales over-estimation?

Wait, since when is Pachter a "renowned" analyst?

It's interesting that he always and ever mentions Nintendo (the company that sold more than 280 million devices in 7th/8th gen) when he talks about what he thinks are Japanese (or the console industry's as a whole) failures, but he never mentions Sony, the company which sold more than a 100 million devices less and hundred of millions 1st/2nd party software copies less than Nintendo. The company which lost billions in one gen. Two of the recent mid-tier Nintendo IP releases (Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion) will each easily outsell any Sony IP (except Gran Turismo), but sure, it's always Nintendo who make mistakes and works as his role model for failures even though they are the most succemssful company in this industry (besides Blizzard which are not independent anymore).

In Pachter's world Nintendo can't do right and others can't do wrong.
