I think I remember a thread like this before, but that was "the throne" in general.

Well, Westeros follows two pretty clear succession laws: primogeniture and conquest. We saw the first in evidence throughout the Targaryen dynasty, and the second in the form of Aegon the Conqueror and Robert Baratheon.

By primogeniture, it goes to the Wii U, as the eldest (and indeed, only) child of the current Iron King, the Wii. But the Wii himself was a usurper, because by primogeniture the PS3 would have been Iron King like his father. So, the PS4 has a claim on the throne (as Robert did), which could get people to rally to his cause. Aegon had no claim at all over the Seven Kingdoms, but he had dragons.

Now, let's look at personal armies (first parties) and allied armies (third parties). The Wii had very strong personal armies, but the other houses were mostly sworn to the PS3 or Xbox 360, or most often both at the same time, which was very odd. It was certainly true that an alliance of the PS3 and Xbox 360 could crush the Wii dynasty, but they refused to ally. With the Wii's death, the Wii U immediately takes the throne, but his own armies are a little weak at the moment. He is looking unstable on his throne, but he has a head start since his competitors aren't ready to fight yet. PS4 has started to display his strength, but NextBox is keeping it in reserve.

It is looking like PS4 could easily overcome Wii U if they were the only two claimants to the throne. But he is biding his time and waiting for NextBox to reveal himself. One of NextBox's vassals has recently been making some absurd remarks, but NextBox has been quick to say that those were personal opinion and dismissing them.

At the moment, it looks to me like PS4 is going to win, with the impressive armies he himself possesses and those sworn to him already, but some of his sworn armies could switch to that peculiar two-masters arrangement we saw last gen. What NextBox really needs is an army of dragons, so a Panzer Dragoon launch title (or perhaps an acquisition of the Lair IP) could go a long way.

That was way too much fun to write.

Just like the Vita reveal gave us a great insight on that matter.

I think once we see actual sales that becomes unquestionable, not presentations with smoke and mirrors.

If you only deal with history then get out of the predicition business. Don't come into threads and dismiss them, that's derailing. This is about analysis.

But even if you look at initial sales you can still be wrong. Look at the 3DS. Look at the Vita's launch numbers. Look at the Wii's YoY.

Wii was not an usurper. If you go bloodlines you have to go all the way back. Back to the ancient king, the Nintendo Entertainment System. (fuck atari)

Wiiu is gonna win. I feel that for some reason love all console makers though. Minus ouya fuggin jester.

I'm not sure that would really hold water. He hadn't been king for three generations.

ps4 has the greater chance of becoming king especially if those nextbox rumors are true. it would probably be the ps2 all over again.

right now ps4 has the greatest chance of winning but that could all change.
