PC games don't have crazy AI right now.  If more ram and faster processors was what it took to have better AI, we would have been running from Skynet years ago.

PC games don't because most of them are ported from console or aimed at multi platform, they won't waste time making excellent AI for the smallest selling of the three platforms if it can't be used on the other two.

Tell the difference side by side?  Absolutely.  Dramatically different visual experience?  I doubt it.  Dramatically different gameplay experience?  No.  AI is limited more by the ability of programers than by the ability of a computer to execute programs.  PC games don't have crazy AI right now.  If more ram and faster processors was what it took to have better AI, we would have been running from Skynet years ago.

You do realize that most PC games are built to run on PS3/360 right? These consoles are the limiting factor.

You're right about the fact that there won't be a dramatic difference though. As long as a game is able to run on a PS3 or 360, it won't be a true next-gen game. These consoles are too limiting to what developers will be able to create. This is why I'm excited for Unreal Engine 4. This is a true next-gen engine and to my understanding, this isn't coming to PS3/360.

These tech demos we see of UE4 are able to run on PS4. I'm sure if possible, with severe downgrades it would be possible to run on a Wii U or even a PS3/360. Why would anyone want to do that though? That is the real question.

Quite, kinda of the downside of PC ports.  They are usually the best, but could be better because they are weighed down by the console's limitations.

The fact that UE4 is "scalable" really isn't the issue.

The fact is most devs are not going to bother to "scale" it. And scaling it down so far defeats the purpose of the engine in the first place which is to take advantage of high end GPUs. That's the whole reason for UE4's development.

Back to the graphics only debate, eh?

At bold: You keep telling yourself that.

You do know that next-gen consoles offer more than just beter graphics rights? Performance is probably the biggest factor.

Fellas, I'm just going to ask you all to go research what a game engine is and what UE4 is. and then come back to this debate.

So many of you are stuck on graphics and are ignoring the development pipeline. If you think a game engine is just a means to produce a certain level of graphics, you need some education.

No one is arguing that the engine can't be gimped to run on the Wii U. It could probably run on Vita too.

What people are saying is that is largely irrelevant to how software is developed and what content ends up on a platform.

Mark Rein has said the engine is designed first and foremost for next-generation platforms such as the PS4 and 720 and high end PCs. Period.

*facepalm*

Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline, Development pipeline.....say it with me...Development pipeline.

Now go look it up.

You do realize that the most obvious difference between an UE3 and a UE4 game will probably be graphics right? A game built with amazing graphics needs a powerful piece of tech to ACTUALLY RUN THE GAME. These games will be built to take advantage of PS4/720. They will be built to have better everything and at some point they will reach a level where a Wii U port just won't be possible.

Development pipeline and scalability.     Go look them up.  You really have no grasp of what either means.  Or you are intentionally ignoring it for the sake of continuing your agenda.  If the latter, then you won't look it up or learn anything new and will eventually repost the same misinformed viewpoint again and again.  If the former, then hope for you exists and I wish to continue this discussion with you once you are better informed.

Is Metal Gear Rising an EA game? What about BioShock Infinite? Metal Gear Solid V is an EA game? How about Grand Theft Auto V? Star Wars 1313? Aliens: Colonial Marines (sucks, but this was even announced for the Wii U)? Tomb Raider? etc. etc. etc.

Ubi Soft is only one publisher, and even they have given the Wii U the screw over with Rayman (probably far more offensive than anything EA has done). This is kinda like saying someone is your best friend, but they just happened to sleep with your girlfriend that one time, other than that they're swell.

How many of you even buy that many multiplats on the Wii U or 3DS? I'd bet many of the people making a huge fuss about this are doing so because they want a talking point against some idiot Sony/MS fanboy, moreso than the games themselves, lol.

Almost none of those games were initiated when WiiU and its dev kits/ environment were available. These devs/publishers made a decision when they first created the timeline and financial plan... wellll before WiiU was anywhere near viable. They don't have infinite resources to just throw new people on a project when its 1/2 or further along. Its remarkable Nintendo got any ports at launch as it is.

SW1313 hasn't been confirmed for anything AFAIK.

Aliens:CM is a failure of a project. WiiU's version was planned all along as a later launch, but since the product sucks so bad, its likely to be cancelled. That has nothing to do with WiiU and everything to do with the crap product.

Rayman was a decision likely made during WiiU's launch. It has nothing to do with tech and everything to do with behind the scenes discussions about possible sales on the much larger PS360 userbase. I'm willing to bet it will run noticeably better on WiiU as it was built on that platform. Really, this game supports my argument and as it proves over and over again, that devs/publishers will want all games on as many platforms as possible. It simply costs too much to create a game now.

Look at my games list and wishlist (link in sig). I only want to own WiiU. I don't want to waste money on a second piece of hardware. None of MSony exclusives are worth that to me. I have more 3rd party games now and almost had more on my Wii. (definitely had more on my PS3)

Fact is you're making your narrow view of gaming fit an industry. EA has an irrational issue against Nintendo because they likely feel burned in some fashion regarding Origin. Other publishers will be there and likely EA will turn around in 2014. Granted I only care about their Battlefield franchise. Everything else sucks anyways. (IMO)

Technology will not be the reason WiiU gets ignored by 3rd parties (like it was for Wii). There may be other reasons... but it won't be for any engines/tech.
