I completely agree. In fact there are a number of things that could be done to improve the quality of discussion in this community (promptly locking duplicate threads, locking threads with little-to-no substance, taking away thread creation rights from certain users, etc). But it has become quite obvious that mods, and those who run the site, have no interest in improving the quality of discussion around here.

Post count, thread count, etc. are all cool. As far as Im concerened, they are must haves on a forum.

Points though, that serve no purpose at all anymore. There literally is no point in having points. gamrConnect has been abandoned, nothing will come from points. Its an un-needed distraction.

Go to your profile, and click on your total points. You'll see a breakdown of how you earned all of your points. For example, here is my breakdown:

At first I was going to disagree because I didn't think it would cause much harm. But after I thought about it, I agree. The potential for the points to be beneficial is completely nonexistent; no one is going to improve the site because of points. On the other hand, the potential to harm the site does exist, even if there's a severely low chance of if happening, as there are some people who let the points go to their head. So yeah, I agree. Get rid of points and every other feature who serve no benefit to the forum. It's guaranteed that such removal wouldn't harm the forum, but it might help the forum, even if by only a little.
