1) Intrinsic/External motivators can encourage or discourage certain behaviors. I don't think you'll deny that.
2) It may be impossible to completely erase a certain behavior. But you can increase or decrease the occurence of those behaviors.

You've been on this site long enough to know and i would expect you're old enough to know that in every forums there will always be spammers/trolls especially in gaming. Taking away the point system is not going to make any difference. Don't insult me by calling my post pretentious - it's anything but. You don't know me enough to know the motivations of my posts, nor do you know the posters well enough to know their main motivators are to gain points.
There are a few, I don't deny that.

I agree that spammer will exist, but I disagree about the fact that getting rid of point is "not going to make any difference".
Bold sounds fucking pretentious enough to me.
Anyway, there's no good reason to fucking keep them. It's just a fucking marketing fad that the site owners jumped on, and people either don't care about it (making it pointless) or encourages bad behavior by the people that do care about it.
So anyway, it seems like everyone's in agreement that it's fucking shit. It serves no purpose. So then I see no real argument against getting rid of them, or for keeping them. So I guess we're all in agreement.
