We need to have upvotes and downvotes, and replace points with that.

I literally don't pay any attention to the points. The same goes for Achievements, Gamerscore, Trophies or any arbitrary measure of participation. I don't come here for points and I don't play games for a Gamerscore.

Now, arcade games are another story. I do play those for points, but that's a personal challenge.

Please post a list of threads of mine that would be considered spam?  Yesterday was the only day that I have asked simple questions.  I think you are full of it.  

P.S. I dont pay attention to the points.  I just find it funny because Bananaking is obsessed with them so i was picking on him.  Im sorry though, we wont joke anymore

Ehhhhh, nah. I know some forums that do that. Still leads to people whoring over points. And those forums aren't even game forums.

Just fucking imagine what will happen when the console wars REALLY heat up later this year.

3 things could happen:

1) Ability to ignore threads. Make them so that they don't bump up PERSONALLY to you.

2) Social feedback/intrinsic motivation. Basically, the community has to regulate itself. Punish people who make bad threads, reward people who make good threads. This is in contrast to extrinsic motivation and "gamification".

3) More subforums for better filtering. E.g. a "games", "polls", or "contest" forum for stuff like "What's your favorite color". And/or a forum where almost anything silly goes, without regards to quality (maybe even let people bump up their post counts in their forum, so that all of that is contained there)

4) Stricter moderation.

And too many downvotes results in an automatic temporary ban!

And if you get way too many, you die!!!

All those things seem solvable with upvotes downvotes where you points are based on the votes.

And maybe add in badgenome's suggestions as well.
