@Rath, MANY people sick of Mario games and Zelda.
PS has MUCH MORE genre ariety with DIFFEREBT characters.

Are you trying to deny that Mario and Zelda are huge series?
HUGE for Nintendo fanboys, NOT for casual gamers and much less for casual non-gamers people.

The PS2 won because it had far more series than are currently announced for the PS3 as well as a smarter price point and more early popularity.
PS3 wil have over 40 EXCLUSIVES in 2008, hiow do you know, that they won`t be better, then PS2 games?

Final Fantasy - ok.
GTA
MGS - ok.
GT - ok.
GoW
Devil May Cry
Guitar Hero
Ratchet and Clank
Dragon Quest - ok.
Kingdom Hearts
Soul Calibur - ok.
Half of these games WEREN`T proven, till release on PS2, they were NEW IPs.

Just explain why you think PS3 will win Crazzy.
By winning you mean reaching 100 mln.?
Best exclusive HD games, 199-299$ price, Blu-ray, Free Online, Home, inovative games like LBP.

The PS3 is selling slower in Japan than the PS2. The PS3 is selling slower in America than the PS2 - is a meaningless comparison because
FACT: 1) MOST PS3 cost at launch 600$, PS2 cost 300$.
FACT: 2) PS2 launched in 2000, PS3 in 2006.
FACT: 3) Different launch times across the world.
FACT: 4) PS2 didn` have REAL competitors, PS3 now has.
FACT: 5) PS2 had 299$ till May 2002, PS3 had 600$ price till July (and probably will get 299$ price this year). That`s like ps2 selling for 149$.
There is no value in that comparison, you fail.

Because you can't just look at one market and say that is the way it was for the rest of the world. If we look at just American sales we would see the 360 as the current dominant console but that is clearly not the case. You have no proof for your claim so you can't stand by it as a fact.
And if we took Japan market, x360 is just DEAD there. What is your point? PS3 won`t gain momentum at 299$ with FFXIII, GT5, MGS4, KZ2, LBP and etc? Even if x360 will cost 249$?
The fans are abandoning the game because they don't like the platform.

It is losing exclusives to both systems. Spin it however makes you feel best but the fact is it is losing exclusives to both systems. This trend has not reversed itself yet, and I doubt it ever will.
PS3 can allow to lose exclusives, IT has over 40! 40! 40! 40! 40! in 2008.
Lost planet -> PS3.
Eternal Sonata -> PS3.
Enchanted arms -> PS3.
Saint Row -> PS3.

Once again, best is an opinion, so you can't really use it as an arguement.

Last time I checked (which was... not long ago), the PS3 is at $399, cheapest. Even with a price cut, it'll only be $299, and that's lowest.By the time the PS3 is $199, the Wii and 360 will be cheaper than they are now.

If the PS3 wins through Blu-ray, software companies will lose because blu-ray only buyers will not buy software. Look at PSP software.

Innovative games? Because the Wii doesn't have innovative games? Or does motion controls only "innovative" when you're using the SIXAXIS to steer a dragon?

kirby007 : you misquoted him. I'm pretty sure he said "PS3 will fail because it has too many exclusives and buyers will not know which one to get, so they will instead buy the Wii, which only has 2, Mario and Zelda."

Fact 1 is great. Really it is. I don't see where you are going with that though. The people who wait until late in the generation to hop in are more frugal than the early adopters. The PS3 will always have the highest pricetag and thus always have that handicap. I talked about this earlier.
Like MUCH MORE people will buy PS3 for 300$, then for 600$?
REPEAT: just like xbox and ps2? xbox costed more to produce, and when ps2 went to 199$, xbox also did.
Fact 2 again supports me but is entirely irrelevant. The gaming market has expanded since 2000 so all consoles should see a comparitive increase in sales. The PS3 is selling at a slower pace than the PS2 was however. The expanded market seems to have only softened the blow for the console rather than helping.
PRICE 600$.
100 mln. psOne. 120 mln. PS2. 20% increase. Are you kidding? How much that should help, when price increased 100% from 300$ to 600$.
Fact 3 is a point I have been making for a while now actually. Your worthless comparison is made worthless by just this point. If the PS2 had a launch window similar to the PS3 it would have sold way more units than the PS3 did. I don't know why you think I am ignoring this, but it is probably because you aren't actually reading my arguements again.

Fact 4 is true, irrelevant, and again supports my case. The PS2 handily outsold all of its competitors from the time of launch until today. The only console that current fits into that PS2 mold would be the Wii. If being able to outsell your opponents by a huge amount makes them not serious competition then I guess you would admit the Wii is on the market by itself?
250$ PRICE. +Casual non-gamers base.
How many 3rd party Wii games sold over 2 mln.? 1. and ps3 already has 2.

What? I can't make sense of this statement. Are you saying that the PS3 will be selling at the same rates of the PS2 when it hits $300?

Why isn't there value in comparing it in every market and looking at that as a whole? You can't just throw around the word fail and expect to get anywhere. Your comparison is flawed because it does not account for the staggered PS2 launch where as mine does. What failing does my comparison have?

You know what, I want to see a list of them. I bet the vast majority of them are garbage. Come on lets see the list already of games that have a solid release date for 2008 (which cuts out both FFXIII games). Oh and if you pad the list with PSN games then I can give you a list of Wii and 360 exclusives that will blow your mind.

Hum. Let me look at the current data and I will think about giving you a number. That is supposing you actually stick to the talking points rather than dodging everything I say that contradicts your statements.

You know long it will be for the PS3 to reach 43 million? If it sells 16 this year, and 20 million next year, it'll be at 45 million. We have like 3 years to wait for it to get to that point. And that's only if it sells that much.

The market for PS3 360 and Wii will be 230mln when the last console is being produced. I sure PS3 and 360 will be bigger than Wii. The PS3 will win over 360 with 60% vs 40%. Last generation DC PS2 Xbox and NGC was 180mln. These consoles are all the same in a way (same controller style). If the Wii didn't exist the market for this generation will be like 200mln. However the Wii exists and will extend the market with 30mln at max.
If all gamers of the last generation stick with the controller intead of the Wii mote. 360 and Ps3 will have a market of 200mln. That would make PS3 120mln and 360 80mln. However Nintendo has a fanbase of 20mln at max from last generation. And not every gamer sticks with the controller but choose for a Wii mote. The question is how big is this group? How big is the market for party, rail shooters, point 'n click and platform games? Because those genres represent what the Wii is. I can also see that RPG's will be popular on Wii. But if you grab all those genres together, how much gamers could nintendo grab for last generation? That might be 50mln. I think the most popular genres are sports, action and shooters. Those gamers will stick with a PS3 or 360.
The market for PS3 and 360 together will be 200-20=180
180-50=130mln PS3 will get 60% = 78mln 360 gets 40% = 52mln.
The Wii will be the winner with 100mln.
So NO. PS3 will never get to 100mln.
Microsoft and Sony will learn form this generation that they need to focus more on casuals with Easy to Play games. Motion controls are the best way to do that. I excpect a PSeye that senses motion for PS4.
