At one time he goes, the tracks don't look as impressive as the cars do graphically, but at speeds over 200 mph you don't really care. Funny thing is, the whole video I stared at the speed of his car and not once did I see a speed over like 150 mph.

He meant km/h!  Which after typing into Google looks like 150 mph is 241 km/h

Microtransactions/F2P can be a good thing if done right.
League of Legends,Planetside 2,Path of Exile,Ultimate Team in the Fifa Franchise(EA) and a few others show how it is a safe deal and how they can make so much money with it.
You have to give the people a choice - If you can get the stuff with playing or/and buying most people of the community will chose at some point buying it with Real Money.
League of Legends with the champions...Path of Exile with the colours for armor...Fifa with the card packages in the Ultimate team etc
Either its ingame stuff you can aquire over time through playing the game or crap no one cares for like colours.
As long as it is an option you don't have to chose cause there is still the option to just play the game people will accept and invest in that.

Sadly EA is the company that has the best propability of surviving anything that is ahead of us.
