At this point, it's anyone's game. The only thing we know is that Nintendo will have a headstart. It means little, but it allows it to build the library, iron out bugs etc.

Did Gamecube have a Mario Kart? Or a Mario 3d? (I'm not sure. Just asking, though I think they did).

I have to disagree with you. Handhelds and home consoles don't work the same way. The main reason wii was a success was the motion controllers and Wii Fit. Mario Kart will help a lot, but not enough to beat ps4/720 unless Sony and Ms screw up somehow.

It needs a new hit. Even 3ds is doing extremely well in Japan, but far from great everywhere else.

I wouldnt pay the $400 for a wiiu when i can get a ps4/720 at or around that price in a few months. I think that, what people are thinking for the most part right now. Not everyone can afford $400 or more for a concole as it is, so we the consumer are forced to decide. I looked really hard at getting a WiiU but it has no games worth throwing that kind of money at a system that has roughly the same graffics though better in some things than the current gen system which are less and have vasts librarys.

So for me when i have $400-$500 to buy a new console this year i am looking for something with great games all around and that means 3rd party as well.

Game consoles are an investment of entertainment and people want the MOST bang for thier buck, and for what nintendo wants for the wiiu, isnt worth that much money to me. Now if it was $200 hell yeah im all about that.

Sorry, but I don't think that's true at all. In my opinion, they do a poor job at that. The thing is, the strength of their software has always saved Nintendo from their rather poor business practices, and in the case of the Wii, innovative hardware and word of mouth advertising. Things that have been lacking with the Wii U thus far, which has exposed some of their weaknesses.

As for striking when the time is right, it could be argued that the right time is now, before the other consoles release. It doesn't look like that's going to happen, though.

The next crucial period, then, will be next holiday season, when they have no other option than to release strong software and offer some kind of expanded value, either through a price cut, holiday discounts, or high value bundles. Software is going to be key, however, and Nintendo really has to throw some hay-makers. If they don't, then they'll be losing potential customers to Sony or Microsoft.

Actually it's outselling the PS4 and Nextbox combined. Nintendomination is back!

From what I can tell Wii U is already outselling PS4 and Nextbox. Where it's struggling is against the cheaper PS360.

Sure it can, but it wont, i think it will be a close battle though, the closest since SNES/MegaDrive
