Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U Can Still Outsell Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4

Too assume that the WiiU is dead completely is foolish. We haven't even seen the xbox or the ps4 yet. Especially how the Wii dominated last gen.... Look how slow the 3DS launch period was compared to now? The Vita is getting ripped apart.....

Yeah, sure, it can. Vita can also still outsell 3DS. It's not impossible! But it just won't happen.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Initial thought: N-Magic's threads are improving.

Final thought: It's possible. I personally don't expect the PS4 or 720 to light up the sales charts right away.

At least this OP has paragraphs.

phenom08; "Its funny, we always see fans of other consoles say WiiU has no chance but when ask them when exactly will either of the other two pass the WiiU, they become silent. Are they afraid or something?" Against my better judgement, I'm gonna bite on this one.
Perhaps people don't want to draw conclusions based on nothing at all? We know nothing of the next xbox, we don't know exactly when the PS4 will launch, its entire launch line-up or the price of either console. Just because someone doesn't give you an exact date when a new console will catch another, doesn't mean that they don't have faith that it some day will.
What about you? Do you honestly believe that the Wii U can hold the PS4 and 720 at bay with these horrible weekly figures?
You stated in another thread that "when the PS4 sells worse than the Vita, 3rd parties will be forced to support the Wii U", this sort of indicates that you have absolutely no idea what so ever about how anything works and your overall tone in the last months lends more creedence to my theory that you're in here simply to rile people up and cause aggravation. I refuse to believe that anyone can truly believe this nonsense and argue like you do without this very agenda.
You make your own highly exaggerated foregone conclusions based simply on wishes and wet dreams and then go on to attack others for refusing to do the same? Good job, buddy.

At this point though, I don't think anyone is "afraid" of the Wii U's weekly sales. There is no way you can spin this, not even the most diehard fan can; the Wii U is not headed for greatness by all looks of it.

PS: A 400$ pricepoint is not bad at all for a consumer electronics product, people gladly shell out more for phones, laptops and tablets and spend more than ever on TV's stereo's and other hi-fi gear. Besides, no one has ever claimed that the PS4 or 720 will "revitalize" the industry, that's your strawman for the day (or hour, we shall see), they'll likely just carry on current trends and traditions.

It's certainly possible for the WiiU to outsell the PS4 and Nextbox, but I remember when the WiiU was announced, most people were of the belief that the headstart was supposed to ensure a healthy install base and 8th gen games would have the WiiU as their lead development because the install base was so large. This headstart hasn't resulted in a great install base yet and I don't see how it's going to get any better before the PS4 and Nextbox launch.

sure i don't see why not since Mario and Pokemon is forever exclusive Nintendo system seller...

I would say yes, the WiiU will make them look easy this holiday. I don't see how 400 dollar consoles will revive the market. Its not like they did wonders with their other consoles that were 400 bucks.

I wouldnt pay the $400 for a wiiu when i can get a ps4/720 at or around that price in a few months. I think that, what people are thinking for the most part right now. Not everyone can afford $400 or more for a concole as it is, so we the consumer are forced to decide. I looked really hard at getting a WiiU but it has no games worth throwing that kind of money at a system that has roughly the same graffics though better in some things than the current gen system which are less and have vasts librarys.

So for me when i have $400-$500 to buy a new console this year i am looking for something with great games all around and that means 3rd party as well.

Game consoles are an investment of entertainment and people want the MOST bang for thier buck, and for what nintendo wants for the wiiu, isnt worth that much money to me. Now if it was $200 hell yeah im all about that.

What did your response have to do with what I posted? All I read from you was "blah, blah, blah, WiiU is weak, blah, blah, blah, Ps4/720 are true nextgen." You dont even know what their launch line ups look like. You are comparing what the WiiU has now to what they have in the future which is really confusing because when PS4/720 release the WiiU will obviously have more later. Your post just screams bias lol. In case you need an reminder 360/PS3 flopped at $400 plus. Why exactly should I believe consumers are waiting for them? That proved incorrect last time. YOU may be willing to pay 400+ but the average consumer says no. Its funny those Micro/Sony fans are always begging for price cuts but will claim their favorite plats are worth every penny. Begging for price cuts only says our favorite product isnt worth the price tag. The WiiU is priced too high for the average consumer, remember the Wii raped at the PS3s current price tag. If WiiU recieves a price cut with Mario, then no matter how powerful they are, they will be outsold, just ask the Vita. Even without a price cut PS4/nextbox will still be outsold thanks to holiday deals anyways. WiiU didnt have many holiday deals if any and neither will newly released platforms. So right now it may not be worth 400 but later it maybe, or it could be cheaper later this year anyways.

is ps4 and the next xbox can't outperform wiiU's current sales trend i'm going to cry have have to quit gaming. i will not move to tablets or pc.

Do I honestly believe WiiU can go against to plats that will most likely flop as hard as the WiiU? Yes lol. Unlike them though the WiiU has the headstart and Mario coming later this year. Maybe even two Mario games and a price cut. Its doing bad now when it hardly matters because it has no competition.

For sure, though they are going to have to play all their cards right. New amazing Mario, Reinvented Zelda and a NEW IP that really makes you say wow would be a great place to start.
