Some people bitched that the transfer from Wii to Wii U took too long (I had over max games allowed to transfer through SD card so I had to re-download ~20 or so games onto my Wii U which took me about 40-50 mins total for transfer and downloading). 

Then there were others (myself included) that complained that it should be compatible with the Wii U pad right away.  However, now you have to pay what like 1 or 2 dollars to transfer them to Wii U eshop to be compatible with off screen play on the Wii U pad. 

All this seems like a minor inconvenience compared to not being able to re-download or transfer any game save files of PSN games.  Eventually, they will have a work around but this seems more of a issue than the whole Wii - Wii U transfer.

The whole point is that you shouldn't want to go back to your old console. I used the BC on my PS3 4x overall, one of them was God of War II, since that came out after the PS3 if I am not mistaken, then the other were chances to play 2 of my favourite ever PS2 games. I can manage if I just play them on Gaikai instead. The only real problem was the lack of a football game on the PS3, so I did have to keep playing PES for a while

It is not to do with online infrastructure, it is to do with the radical change in architecture and lack of emulation. I can agree that it is probably just them being greedy wrt PS1 and PS2 games, but other than that it is fine.

Worst comes to worst, I will just have to keep my PS3 plugged in for FIFA. But anyway, living in the UK means that it will inevitably be late, so I will have more games to play at launch

At first it was that fact you had to go into a wiiimode on your wiiu just to play your transferred games.

Then they thought Nintendo was cheap for charging like 1 dollar to rebuy the games you already bought on wii with added wiiu features like restore points and the ability to play them off the Gamepad.

I hear what you're saying and while options for backwards compatibility may be there on PS4, they won't be convenient as they should be. I've played around with Online streaming and it's not something I'm too impressed with. There is always slight input lag and visuals adjust up and down on the fly depending on bandwith.

Also it may be just me and my years of playing videogames, but at this point I get as much joy replaying old games as playing new ones. 

If Microsoft comes out and says...all Xbox 1 and 360 games compatible, and in 1080p... I will be very happy and probably replay dozens of old games.

If they don't have it on Microsofts side, it will really hurt their Xbox live ecosystem because people paid since day 1 to be part of it. Imagine iPad 5 doesn't work with any iOS apps because they changed to x86 CPU. That wouldn't fly at all.
