Well, it is. Instead of providing backwards compatibility on the PS4 gamers will be able to play PS3&PS2 games from the cloud service (Gaikai).

Then why the f*ck would you have to rebuy your PSN games? They could just develop a migration app for your PSN games. Like Nintendo.

I don't think you will have to re-buy them. Definitely not. See my post above. They won't all be available through the cloud from day one but eventually they will (that's what the guy yesterday hinted).

PS3 stuff is developed CPU centric, PS4 simply can't run those games since it is too weak. Xbox will have the same problem.

Sooooo, PS4 can't run PS3 games, what were the implications again? I always mix up those pesky power levels.

Its arguable that MS won't be doing it either as their base architecture changed dramatically as well. (IBM to x86)

So glad I was able to copy 100% of my Wii content to my WiiU. :p

But as to your OP, dang that's a shame and seems dumb, why would psn games not transfer to ps4?

That was in relation to the gaikai potential features in the future. Which means it will not be 100% of your catalog and more than likely will require some form of payment. Maybe in the same manner in which Nintendo is allow $1 and $1.50 payments to buy upgraded VC content on WiiU that you already owned (and transferred) on the Wii.

This is odd. I understand there might be a certain technical reason for it, but it sucks that your investment won't carry over. This is an area where Sony will surely get trumped by Microsoft. Not looking good for it's ecosystem.

It's not a big deal, moving the ps3 into the bed room after I get a ps4 anyway. Besides I've always had bc and never used it. If they can supplement bc with gaikai I think most will be happy.

Remember when Nintendo was criticized for allowing all your previously downloaded games to be 100% playable in wii mode on the wiiu and offered enhanced versions for super cheap?
