Maybe my favourite single piece of game music.
But having played N64 primarily, I'm more emotionally tied to N64 soundtracks. F Zero X and OOT especially.

A few examples of music that i liked when i was a kid on PlayStation
Ape Escape: Coral Cave
Megaman X4 - Bio Laboratory
Legend Of Dragoon - World Map - Continent 3
Sheep Raider - Ancient Land & Haunted Theme
Medievil - Enchanted Village
Spyro 3 - Fireworks Factory
and the music from the Ehrgeiz demo intro

A few examples of music that i liked when i was a kid on Nintendo 64
Bomberman Hero - Redial, Foehn & Beak
Donkey Kong 64 - Crystal Caves
Kirby 64 - Miracle Matter Boss
the infamous Mario 64 - Dire Dire Docks
Zelda Majora's Mask - Song Of Healing
Paper Mario - Crystal Palace

What's the point of this. The PSX, like the Saturn and Sega CD all had the ability to play Redbook Audio which will always be better than midi generated music.
Now if you want to ask if PSX midi is better than N64 midi then that would be an interesting comparison.
annoys me when people call it the PSX.....PS1....PSX was the console between ps2 and 3

They're better because you can just pop them into a CD player and hear the music at least, but some of the best soundtracks on PS1 were MIDI.

nope.. SCEA hated the name playstation and used the term PSX (playstation experimental) Sony japan didnt give a f for SCEA and used PSX for that ps2 dvr model.. Hence a lot of people know the ps1 as the PSX..

They're better because the music isn't compressed in any shape or form, so the quality of the music is the highest possible (which is what TC asks), so N64 doesn't have any chance to win.
The N64 was just as capable of producing the same quality sounds as PS1, but the cartridge format doesn't allow as much room for audio streaming. So you would usually see games making use of the sound hardware, which also happened to be shared with the graphics hardware. So you ended up having to choose between sacrificing sound or visuals for the system to excel at the opposite.
With all that pointed out this is my favourite N64 track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4VEod2_Z6o
