annoys me when people call it the PSX.....PS1....PSX was the console between ps2 and 3

PSX was what we all abreviated Playstation to back when there was no PS2. The PSX was not a console between the PS2 and 3, it was a DVR enabled PS2 released only in Japan. There was no PS1, there was a PS and a PSone, but no PS1. PS-X was the internal development name for the PS and predated the PSone. SCEA actualy wanted to release the Playstation with the name PSX because they didn't like the name Playstation. I agree with them, to me it sounds like a Playschool toy for babies. But anyway, we call it PSX because back in the 32bit days everyone called it PSX and the name stuck.

The N64 was just as capable of producing the same quality sounds as PS1, but the cartridge format doesn't allow as much room for audio streaming. So you would usually see games making use of the sound hardware, which also happened to be shared with the graphics hardware. So you ended up having to choose between sacrificing sound or visuals for the system to excel at the opposite.

With all that pointed out this is my favourite N64 track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4VEod2_Z6o

What's the point of this. The PSX, like the Saturn and Sega CD all had the ability to play Redbook Audio which will always be better than midi generated music.

They're better because you can just pop them into a CD player and hear the music at least, but some of the best soundtracks on PS1 were MIDI.

They're better because the music isn't compressed in any shape or form, so the quality of the music is the highest possible (which what TC asks), so N64 doesn't have any chance to win.

MIDI isn't compressed. It's sequenced notes being synthesized by the DSP.

Everybody already knows PS1>N64 but the N64 is still a badass system.

God I love this game so much :D (I promise this will be the last video lol)

I honestly bought this game for my sister just so I could play it. The music isn't as good as the original (Spent 20 minutes yesterday just playing the rom to hear the music), but the gameplay was spectacular.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Where did I say that MIDI was compressed? I was explaining why RedBook audio have the maximum quality possible.

Redbook audio is a direct copy of the music while with MIDI you're creating music with an electronic component. It's pretty clear which one will sound closer to real life instruments.
