In terms of playback quality, yes.  Just from having disks rather than cartridges, I'd assume.

People like Graeme Norgate did great things with N64 soundtracks though.

The actual point of this thread is to point to a failed business decision by Nintendo, and a successful one by Sony. Whether it's one or the other matters little to me, I care about the history of it, and the accuracy of our perception of what actually happened is paramount to me.
