^Loving this post.

Sad thing is Nintendo would never make anything remotedly similar to CBFD.

OT: I agree with everyone saying "shooters". They don't need to be violent to be highly enjoyable or mature. Hopefully Miyamoto will get his FPS idea realized.

As for your Skyrim suggestion, the sad thing is that most of the things that makes Skyrim so great would not even be up for debate at Nintendo, such as having the opportunity to save or kill innocent victims. Nintendo never give you moralic choices; the only option is to do what they consider morally right. On the bright side though the next Zelda is rumored to have much more exploring sections, so that's a step in the right direction.

Yeah, there are way to many things about skyrim that nintendo would not temper with, so I doubt they'll do it. But it would be cool, and it would be without a doubt a system seller if they made it well.

Shooter because I think their only shooting IP is Metroid Prime. That or hack and slash would be sweet.

I don't understand why ppl are voting so much for RPG, they are ALREADY doing new RPG IPs... Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, X, that monolith soft 3DS game, those are the new RPG they did recently or are doing. Add to this other IPs they already own like Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario and probably more.

If anything, Nintendo is NOT lacking RPGs or platformer.

Third person shooter/adventure game. A Retro Studios take on the Uncharted subgenre could be pretty awesome.

The made the conduit 1&2 for the Wii if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: was Sega, just exclusive to Wii console

You can't have enough RPGs :P Which is why I voted for it too.

Nintendo is lacking in shooters but Nintendo is better off not catering to that crowd.

But the question was to attact hardcore gamers. Nintendo have dozens of RPG IPs and they are making new ones as we speak. If all of this did'nt attract hardcore gamers, what makes you think making even MORE rpgs would help?

Also the question was ''IF ninty WERE TO make a new IP'', so since they ARE making new RPGs as we speak, that genre should be excluded by default.

As for the shooters, I agree with you to some extent. They rly should'nt make a other CoD clone. I hate seeing everything with a gun becoming one (Resident Evil, Aliens: Colonial Marines for example). But Nintendo should make a shooter completly unique, the same way Borderlands is unique and different from other shooters. I'm sure Ninty has the creative forces to create a original shooter that stands apart.

I think the perfect type of shooter would be a mission-based first-person shooter with great splitscreen multiplayer. Something like Nightfire.

I know online multiplayer is the big thing, but I suspect there are many people out there who long for splitscreen multiplayer.

Strategy. Prove that games like Starcraft and Shogun total war can be done on the WiiU because of the tablet. Imagine the WiiU getting PC exclusives. There are no contracts to bind them to PC so it wouldn't be a problem and they would bring these games to a whole new audience. Could have a similar effect to Goldeneye 007.

same here. Nintendo needs the big shooter to attract new hardcore gamers. The RPG gamers are already there.

I picked MMO, I would have said RPG, but I think Nintendo is already fairly set to move in as the dominant RPG developer in the world in the next few years; Pokemon, Xenogears/Xenoblade game, and Fire Emblem are all very good properties; plus 3DS is destined to be the top platform for RPGs just as the DS was before it where the combined sales of RPGs exceeds 130 million - more than any other videogame console in history. What they haven't done is a Pokemon or Hyrule MMO - creating a new franchise around that would be great.

However, if you are talking completely new characters and such, it is completely unnecessary for Nintendo, and perhaps even counter-productive, given that Nintendo is the King of enduring franchises, and neglecting those in favour of something else would be undesired.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Lego city stories is the ip Nintendo needed.. (we'll see). A shooter like gta is the ip they sorely lack. So here's hoping. I never played any Lego games but this one will be a day 1 purchase
