If nintendo were to make a new ip, what genre should it be?

I don't understand why ppl are voting so much for RPG, they are ALREADY doing new RPG IPs... Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, X, that monolith soft 3DS game, those are the new RPG they did recently or are doing. Add to this other IPs they already own like Golden Sun, Fire Emblem and probably more.

If anything, Nintendo is NOT lacking RPGs or platformer.

You can't have enough RPGs :P Which is why I voted for it too.

Nintendo is lacking in shooters but Nintendo is better off not catering to that crowd.

But the question was to attact hardcore gamers. Nintendo have dozens of RPG IPs and they are making new ones as we speak. If all of this did'nt attract hardcore gamers, what makes you think making even MORE rpgs would help?

Also the question was ''IF ninty WERE TO make a new IP'', so since they ARE making new RPGs as we speak, that genre should be excluded by default.

As for the shooters, I agree with you to some extent. They rly should'nt make a other CoD clone. I hate seeing everything with a gun becoming one (Resident Evil, Aliens: Colonial Marines for example). But Nintendo should make a shooter completly unique, the same way Borderlands is unique and different from other shooters. I'm sure Ninty has the creative forces to create a original shooter that stands apart.
