You do realize Nintendo is Japanese, right? By definition every RPG they make is JRPG. |
As I said in my first message, I think retro should make it. Retro is an american developer.
If nintendo were to make a new ip to attract the hardcore market, what genre should it be? | |||

Ah yes, that would work. Wouldn't be such a bad idea, either.

The shooter market isn't saturates on nintendo that is the point. There are people who still own one console each generation. |
Good point, nintendo needs a shooter to, I just think that a western rpg should come first. But that thought is a bit biased since I don't really like shooters :p

There clearly is a point. Nintendo ip's sell on nintendo consoles. So, to prove to 3rd partys that hardcore games can indeed sell on their platforms, they should get system sellers for those genres as well. I do know that nintendo pretty much has every genre covered, but the "hardcore" market thinks different. All they see is mario. And nintendo needs to change that image. |
The fact that you wrote this clearly shows you are young.
If Nintendo does create a market for a genre and sells well then 3rd parties wil use the excuse we cannot compete with Nintendo games.

But what should nintendo do then? Just sit there and think that eventually everything will be allright? If there ain't a market, they should create it themselves.

They should do what they want to do and not hope for 3rd parties. i.e. they shouldn't jsut go out and create a new IP in the hope it will show that their is a market for it but rather create something that will please the users and make them money.
The only other viable option is to worth with other studios through partnerships.
this one is easy, they need a shooter like halo or COD, , they need some of the dude bro shooter crowd cause it's none existen on a nintendo console.
A new IP suited for multiplayer.
-Something in the same vein as Secret Of Mana, an action-rpg designed for local multiplayer, maybe utilizing Miis.
-A new game based on the asymmetrical multiplayer concept

Honestly, as far as I could see from the x trailer, it looked like a game pretty well suited for multiplayer.
Shooter. Well, less specifically they need action. Something new and fresh. I can remember as a kid picking up new IP's all the time from Nintendo that were cool and action/adventure heavy. "Hmmm... Metroid? What's this going to be?" "Kid Icarus...shoot arrows and jump high with wings...cool..." Something like that in a modern way. A cool theme with action/adventure gameplay. It should have mass-appeal.
