Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ubisoft announce Rayman Legends to go multiplatfrom, all versions releasing in September

Knew it right from the start.

Cannot find my initial post unfortunately but at least found this:
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4817587

But really didn't expect this to launch at the same time as the WiiU version. That certainly wasn't nice of you Ubisoft.
February now looks extremely dry for WiiU. 4 weeks of no new releases as far as I can see (at least in the west) until the Amazing Spider-Man which won't do anything and then finally 1 week after that LEGO, MH3U and NFS:MW.

I guess Ubisoft just want Rayman to fail. Fair enough then I guess.

I can see the release on other platforms, but why not just release the finished Wii U version? Ubisoft didn't need this and merely releasing the game in a couple weeks would have caused none of this.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I said that before... and all versions will run in 1080p@60 fps like every other Rayman for HD consoles.

source ?
cannot find anything that would truly confirm that. My 360 version at least looks more like 720p.

Trailer runs at 1080p and 60FPS.... which doesn't mean anything for the final game (and especially consoles versions).

Just in time for this

Here...

360 version

From what I understand, it's rendered at half-1080p, but framebuffer is double-buffered to allow for throughput of 4 tmes the pixels. Coupled with the decoupling of the controller latency from the rendering frame, that gives us a perfect 1080p image, though one that is not edge-smoothed through the filters.

This is alleviated by the application of morphological post-processing, which gives the game its distinct sheen.

Also, it's rendered at 120fps, but downsampled to 60fps to preserve Rayman's trademark "double-speed at half-speed" speed.

PS3 version

Te PS3 version is actually 1090p, but the RSX parcels out the pixel density to the SPUs, which gives it a smooth look, despite "technically" not being "True HD".

The seven SPUs on the Cell each handle approx 1090p/7 of the framebuffer. Then the RSX carefully puts them together before applying a soft edge-smoothing technique known as QXSFXAA (Qunicunx Approximation of a Supersampled Fast Xciting Anti Aliasing) that was developed by Dr. Richard Westerveldenstein, the famous particle theoreticist.

That gives us the eerily smooth look that the PS3 is famous for.

Rayman is a 2D game... even in PS Vita it run at max resolution (960x544) and 60fps.

He should be fired for this tweet. Was he drunk or what?

Sad truth is: What he did is probably exactly what his bosses want to see: He produced a ton of clicks with his clever little plot. In the long term it's going to hurt them, cause Nintendo fans like me will stop visiting them. But it looks like IGN's Nintendo department is all but vanished already anyway.

A few years ago, the entire IGN Nintendo staff left. It wouldn't surprise me if everyone on that team are hardcore Nintendo haters by now.

I LOVE ICELAND!

The girl who did the Kingdom Hearts & Fire Emblem 3DS reviews came across as a genuine Nintendo fan, at least to me.

I stopped reading IGN's Nintendo content (Actually all IGN content) after the whole "Wii is stupid" mantra they pulled back in, what was it, 2009?

ZombiU: 320K
Assassin's Creed 3 WiiU: 110K (9.14mil on other platforms)
Jut Dance WiiU: 150K (6.04mil on other platforms)

Hm....

Still, not very nice move from Ubi to do something like this so close to previously announced release date.

Hm, if we take attachment rates into consideration:

ZombiU: 0,32Mil/2,6Mil = 12,3%

Assassins Creed 3: WiiU: 0,11Mil/2,6Mil = 4,2%//PS3+Xbox: 9,14Mil/143,6Mil = 6,3%

Actually not too much of a difference.

Well, if you're not loking at that difference as being 50 % (which it is), than no, not really big difference, specially on small user base. However, if translating WiiU's attach rate to 9,14mil sold on other platfomrs, it would make it around 6 mil, so more than 3mil copies difference....that's quite a lot at $60 a pop IMO.

Also, you can look at it this way too - 0.11/9.14 = 1.2% .... I think it's reasonable business desicion not to ditch 98.8% (or 80%, if sales of Rayman Origins are taken as bases) of potential market for being exclusive to one platform (unless platform holder REALLY gives you adequate incetive to be exclusive),

Still, as I said, really not very nice move from Ubi to do it so close to announced release date...
