Adaptation is great. One of the more creative, cerebral, and difficult movies I've seen. I remember I went to see the movie with my now ex-girlfriend and her parents at a theater near my hometown. And the theater staff had set up a display with a magnified newspaper article explaining the premise of the movie so that potential moviegoers wouldn't become confused and disoriented. I had never seen anything like that before. |
The first time I watched It I didn't get how deep it was, I thought the movie was actually writen by brothers. When I realized he was actually creating the reality around him as he tried to write the screenplay, while fighting the urge to make "Hollywood trash" it went to a whole other level of awesome. Looking back on it I should have clued in sooner. I went in cold not knowing anything about it other then that he made Being John Malkovich which is also a favourite of mine.
