Sure 1939 has some classics, but 1977 is the most epic year in movies of all time.
1977:
Star Wars
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Spy Who Loved Me
Annie Hall
Pete's Dragon
High Anxiety
The Rescuers
There's something for everyone and I left out a number of very good movies that aren't as well known as these. Star Wars alone wins the year the title of best year in movies, the rest are all gravy.
