From what i've seen, more bets are on Microsoft as they'll be the ones to really try to push hardware innovation and cross-market accessibility, though you can't count Nintendo out.

Sony, meanwhile, seems to have a hard time learning lessons (see: Vita)

I don't think Vita has anything to do at all with Ps4, if anything they learned a lesson from it. The launch period alone was a mistake.

What I see from this PS4 teaser is that Sony is ready for next-gen and are going in guns blazing. They seem to have more confidence in PS4 seeing as how they are hinting that it exists. Meanwhile they are still supporting Ps3 with some AAA games this year.

Sony is in a great position in the home console space at the moment. They are leading in worldwide sales and they are making the first moves for next-gen. There's a lot of confidene in Sony right now.

I concur, unlike Nintendo and to a certain extent, Microsoft (with the Xbox), I dont see Sony dumping the PS3 in any fashion any time soon nor the Vita depsite not selling that well.

Who said anything about dumping the PS3? Or Vita? WTF?

Sony can support multiple consoles at once. 1st party development will move to PS4 once GOW/TLU come out this year on PS3. 3rd party games will keep PS3 viable. There's still a lot of cards on the table for Vita. Sony has lots of options, they just need to hurry up and do something. Discontinuing it is not even an option btw.

imagine a world where Sony does PS2 all over again.

didn't DS do that last gen already but better lol

well you have to look at when vgc stopped tracking PS2. according to wiki, PS2 as sold 155m ww as of march last yr. cause they won't stop tracking, until it stops selling, while ds sits at 153m.

PS2 may be discontinued, but there are still PS2's sitting on shelves.

not saying ds is winning cuz i kno ps2 got more sales but it took DS 4 years less to reach the same # of sales which Sony still pushed for, thats wat i mean

Because you on on the Chartz.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

They currently have a reasonable chance, what with the Wii U not doing so well. It depends what Microsoft has been up to, as they are the most likely to be too complacent going into this generation. Microsoft took a chunk of Sony market share, and Sony took Nintendo market share before that. Microsoft might feel pretty solid right now, just like Sony right before the PS3. But hopefully the knocks they've taken in other areas (Zune, Windows Phone, Surface etc.) means they learnt a few lessons.

PSN: Osc89

NNID: Oscar89

I presume it's because the bulk of those folks grew up during the Playstation era.

I personally want Sony and Microsoft to enter a financial battle and hope Microsoft destroys Sony. I purchased a ps3 and wii last gen and I hate my ps3 only it's good for was gow series and a Blu ray player. Guess I'm being an ass but that's fine. I'm done with Sony products from gaming to televisions. Go Nintendo and Microsoft end Sony please, Samsung, lg, and apple have already begun this task.

Side note I picked up a ps2 for the DVD player. So now that ps4 won't have Some new disc drive to help with sales I wonder what that will do to sales. Let's be honest a few million ps3's were sold because of the Blu ray drive.

I think the "logic" is; we don't know what Sony and MS are cooking up yet but some people are making the assumption that Sony will build a magical marketshare eating unicorn machine that shits rainbows and MS will produce an unappealing grey box that no one buys because Live Gold subscriptions cost money...

Or something like that. The reason why anyone would think that Sony (or MS) could take Nintendo in the upcoming battle is obvious though; the Wii U is not very well at all with a poor outlook of a dramatic change in the near future. We don't know what Sony and MS are offering at this point but Nintendo has played their hand and it appears, for now at least, to be a fairly simple hand to beat for the others.

I was responding/expanding to your comment on how Sony will continue their support of the PS3

"Meanwhile they are still supporting Ps3 with some AAA games this year. "

Sony's competitors tend to stop support (and very quickly) of their systems when the next gen system is released and was agreeing with your assessment that the PS3 will still be supported (along with the vita)

Wishful thinking. MSONY will split next generation...again, while Nintendo gobbles the scraps. Basically, Wii U will be a distant third while MSONY dominate the market.

↑↑↑i highly doubt this↑↑↑

Care to expand on this? I mean, I respect your opinion but I didn't see an analysis, just a rebuttal.

ok its like this, since i was young i knew that sony was dominating, heck people didn't have gcn came to me to play ssbm and mk dd. Anyway all im saying is i heard talk of sony dominating Nintendo with ps3 (brutal comments and articles), didn't happen, then psp which i thought was awesome, then came the Nintendo will lose the handheld market (psp dominating ds), then over a year ago, its worse Vita destroying the 3DS (cuzz its specs are amazing). Now i hear wii u will get a far distance from the others. Im trying to say can we wait a year or two to judge 1st? I never said nintendo will win. Just saying wait and see, thats all!
