I think the "logic" is; we don't know what Sony and MS are cooking up yet but some people are making the assumption that Sony will build a magical marketshare eating unicorn machine that shits rainbows and MS will produce an unappealing grey box that no one buys because Live Gold subscriptions cost money...

Or something like that. The reason why anyone would think that Sony (or MS) could take Nintendo in the upcoming battle is obvious though; the Wii U is not very well at all with a poor outlook of a dramatic change in the near future. We don't know what Sony and MS are offering at this point but Nintendo has played their hand and it appears, for now at least, to be a fairly simple hand to beat for the others.
