Don't insult GameCube like that: it had its best-selling title released by this point in it's life

But seriously, Wii U will do much better, not only in terms of sales but in terms of market-share, than GameCube, even if some of the parallels are there, Nintendo's in a much stronger position right now than in the early GC days.

Nintendo WAS!! in a much stronger position back in the GameCube days. didn't you see the financial reports? Plus, Nintendo had the same games it has today in the GameCube days and it didn't help it. Wii U can be another GameCube to Nintendo. maybe?

Don't insult my dear Sony like that

Wishful thinking. MSONY will split next generation...again, while Nintendo gobbles the scraps. Basically, Wii U will be a distant third while MSONY dominate the market.

↑↑↑i highly doubt this↑↑↑

Care to expand on this? I mean, I respect your opinion but I didn't see an analysis, just a rebuttal.

Your company of choice has to lose two generations in a row before you start thinking rationally about console sales.

imagine a world where Sony does PS2 all over again.

didn't DS do that last gen already but better lol

well you have to look at when vgc stopped tracking PS2. according to wiki, PS2 as sold 155m ww as of march last yr. cause they won't stop tracking, until it stops selling, while ds sits at 153m.

PS2 may be discontinued, but there are still PS2's sitting on shelves.

Overall I've seen a bunch of Sony and Nintendo doom articles and a bunch of "MS has more money so they will dominate" talk.

There are just as many articles boasting Sony but people tend to ignore what they "agree" with and emphasize what they don't.

Playstation is a big brand, i remember before the ps3 came out that people were predicting to be the big winner. It doesnt really mean anything. People tend to predict stuff like this based on their own biases.

I dont think any of the three can ever pull off a psone/ps2 type of dominace again. Sony's strength has always been on polishing established designs with hardware and pushing creativity in thei games. Nintendos recent strategies has been to push creativity in their hardware that create new ways to play games. Microsoft is all about establishing communities and branching into multple markets.

They all have their own niches that will appeal to different people.

one word fanboy's

ok but they also won twice and guaranteed to win 3 easily

It's those wins that initiate the irrational thinking.

Who thinks that?

From what i've seen, more bets are on Microsoft as they'll be the ones to really try to push hardware innovation and cross-market accessibility, though you can't count Nintendo out.

Sony, meanwhile, seems to have a hard time learning lessons (see: Vita)

Nintendo, meanwhile, seems to have a hard time learning lessons (see:Wii U/GameCube)

Not really, The gamecube in the early days was:

adequately priced, selling like gangbusters, had multiple software release and sustaining software like zelda and smash brothers, had decent 3rd party support and did not selling at an operating loss.

The Wii U doesnt have anything like that.
