I vomited on my Gamecube. It still works.

Don't worry, I cleaned it.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I knew someone who had a gamegube that was missing most of its external covering and it worked fine. He claims his dad attempted to destroy it multiple times in rage fits.

Did his dad have his rage fits because of his son, or did he actually play the gamecube and had rage fits because of the game?

ah should clear that up. It was because of the son playing on it, or it being too loud. Personally I think his dad just had issues and took it out on him.

The Sega Genesis Model 1 could be run over by a truck and still play the best 16-bit games around.

Why is the geny not on the list?

Atari VCS. I saw these go through hell back in the day, but the ultimate would be the one I found in the mud at the rubbish dump. It worked perfectly, just had to scrape the rust and mud out of the cart port.

Anyone that chooses a disc based system is a young ass kid or a fanboy

I'm not sure if it's permitted to call people that here, but I definitely agree that there's no way any  disc-based system is sturdier than the N64 or SNES.

I would say, based on the poll results, that most of the voters are young ass kids.

I have noticed a disproportionate amount of Gamecube love on these forums; it seems many users here spent their childhood and/or teens with one.

I have noticed that too in a lot of posts. Only through the callow eyes of a child could the Gamecube have seemed like any kind of a good console and a good time for Nintendo - rather than the darkest of the dark for Nintendo fans. It was the one console era where Nintendo abandonned innovation and general philosophy, and very deliberately focussed on the 12 and under market with a purple lunchbox console and a fisher-price controller, it could have been marketed as PS2 jr, and it would have made more sense than being Nintendo's main console.

Although I would guess it is mainly trolling from non-Nintendo fans trying to say that a bad Nintendo console is better than good Nintendo consoles, because most of the so-called Gamecube fans seem to be relatively anti-Nintendo.

I wasn't around for the NES era,( grew up with the SNES in the early 90s) but the Gamecube was definitely the lowpoint of Nintendo's home consoles for me. There were some beacons of brilliance in the dark, like Metroid Prime, F Zero GX, and the incomparable Resident Evil 4, but it was sorely lacking 2D platformers, and even Mario and Zelda turned out poorly with the disappointing Sunshine and Wind Waker.

It wasn't a terrible console, but it failed to live up to what I expect from a Nintendo home system.

lol at people voting for playstation or xbox

Neither have a sturdy console.

Out of that list, probably gamecube for durability of being thrown around.

SNES for reliability.

Overall I think Sega Mega driver were pretty solid i would say.

Well, here's some video evidence. The N64 is much stronger than the Gamecube,

I really am not sure what those videos proved at all.

If you wanted to get good evidence about which is truly stronger, you would try the same test for both and do multiple tests.
