God of War III.

Believe it or not but I only got into the God of War series during 2008 when I was introduced to it by a friend, I had never even heard of the series before that. I loved the first two games and after the cliffhanger ending of GoW2 the hype for the third was immense. Once God of War III was announced I was reading every news story about the game, watched every trailer 100's of times and played through the demo at least 100 times.... I have never been so hyped for a game and it totally surpassed my insanely high expectations, it is truly the best game of this generation for me so far, I hope God of War: Ascension tops it!

Going to have go with God of War 3. It's probably one of the few console games that I genuinely enjoy seeing in action, the scale is quite impressive.

The Witcher 2, Starcraft 2, Red Dead Redemption.

The Witcher 2 beats the others though, that game is simply amazing!

metal gear solid 4

i was expecting a lot but still the experience of the game as a whole transcended the medium itself and was better than any spy movie or book I've ever seen or read.

Out of the many only a few even lived up to expectations but the few that surprised me and got me hooked to them were:

 

  • Fable 2
  • Fallout 3 - The one that blew me away
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Assassin's Creed 2
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Borderlands 2
  • Civilzation 5

Playstation All Stars

It's as good as I expected/was hoping it (would) be. I think it's an amazing game. Shame people are not buying it and online seems to be decreasing considerably

Super Mario Galaxy. The hype was stellar, but the game still managed to blow my mind. It's one of the finest I have ever experienced.

Bioshock, Xenoblade, Monster Hunter Tri, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Uncharted 2, and Metroid Prime 3 are up there as well.

Halo 4, without a doubt Halo 4.

It had been a long time since playing as Master Chief and the game couldn't be better. It's my GOTY and GOTD.
