Been hyped for a lot of games, some have failed to deliver but most have succeeded.

The one that stands out and completely blew my mind thus unlocking something within me that I didnt know I had would be Unchated 3: Drake's Deception :).

CoD 4 - My most played game of this gen. Got max rank online (prestige 10) and loved everything about it. The other CoD games have been let downs for me though. CoD4 was the best.

Uncharted games - All were great games. Characters are awesome, story is awesome, gameplay is awesome...

MGS4 - The reason I bought my PS3. Great game.

Resistance: Fall of Man - First PS3 game I bought. Wasn't really expecting much from it but I thought it looked like a pretty cool game. Ended up being much better than I had expected. Played a lot of deathmatch online.

GTA 4 - The first GTA on the PS3. You have to like it.

Metro 2033 (PC) - I watched some trailers for this game and found the atmosphere and story to be something I'd like. This game is really good despite having a few bugs/glitches. Metro Last Light ought to be a great game.

Those are a few for me, but CoD4 takes the #1 spot. I'm disappointed with how CoD is today though. Maps suck and it's all about getting killstreaks and all kinds of other stupid crap.

The Last Guardian. I never thought a game that amazing would ever come out and it still hasn't. Totally passed my expectations.

halo 3

MAG. I was so hyped for that game. Got it. Hated it. Played more of it. Got to Escalation maps. Parachuted from plane. Stormed objective. Fell in love. Best game of this gen. Sequel is needed. I was hyped for UC 2 as well, but I didn't get it at launch. I was interested in it when I saw the caravan sequence and I went out and got it and it was phenomonal. On Nintendo's front, DKCR. I had finished the original trilogy (best trilogy in gaming.Someone should make a thread for the best trilogies) and was blown away. Potentially best in series although DKC 2 may still be the better game.

Bioshock

Alright, I laughed pretty hard at this, not gonna lie.

But on topic, Xenoblade Chronicles. I was excited for it, but having been let down by plenty of games in the past, I was a little unsure of what to expect once I sat down to play. About four or five hours of non-stop play later, and I was sold. Still bummed I couldn't quite finish the game before I left home for the year though (was very close, had about seventy hours put in, I think). -_-;

My most hyped this gen was easily Xenoblade, but I was satisfied with the amount of hype I got.

What REALLY surprised me was Okami, I liked the cute Japanese watercolor style on the box and decided to get it, only to find out that it was one of my favorite games.

I just discovered Okami HD and it was one of the greatest games I've ever played.  I cried at the end.  That game deserves millions more sales than it got and I never even like Capcom games.
