or that AC is better suited for portable use.

That, too. But it doesn't explain why the GC AC had pretty decent sales and the Wii AC had pretty poor.

I wouldn't exactly consider 4 Million poor sales. Yeah, compared to Wild World but overall it sold very well. Better than Metroid, Pokemon, Paper Mario, Kirby, and even Zelda (SS) on the Wii. It has become a very important franchise for Nintendo.

I think he was refering to why the sales decreased.

He said that the Handheld games always sell more but it still didn't explain why the GC version had decent sales while the Wii version sold pretty poor. I understand that the sales on the Wii were less impressive than sales on the GC due to the user-base size. My point was that AC City Folk still sold over 4 Million and outsold many of Nintendo's other big franchises and that sales were very strong.
By the way, I mean this in a nice way but...your bet / Prediction is incredibly dumb. It's fun making predictions and stuff and I predict a lot of things that end up going the complete opposit of what I predicted! I am not good at it but still do it anyway. With that said, I am sure that you will lose this bet. Animal Crossing has grown so much as a Franchise since 2005 when Wild World was first released. Unlike Nintendogs or Brain Age, AC has received an actual core following. AC has a very wide appeal, it isn't mainly women like you say. I have friends and family members who typically play Shooters like COD & Halo, their favorite Nintendo franchise besides Super Smash Bros is Animal Crossing. It will easily sell over 1 Million in the U.S by years end let alone 600K
