I highly doubt it

Animal Crossing is already one of Nintendo's biggest Franchises and will continue to grow IMO.

Animal Crossing is bigger than Zelda at this point

AC has indeed grown into one of Nintendo's largest, but I highly doubt if it holds the same prestige as Zelda does.

In terms of reviews, Internet forums, and Core gamers, Zelda is definitely the more respected and liked franchise.

in terms of sales & overall fanbase size, Animal Crossing is very close to overtaking Zelda Worldwide and should within this next generation. (3DS & Wii U)

Can't argue with that, 3DS AC will beat 3DS zeldas no doubt. On the WiiU however....I think that the appeal of an HD Zelda will be too much.

I don't think Zelda 3D has any chance of outselling Animal Crossing New Leaf...at all.

Since Wii U is Nintendo's most powerful System ever by far, all their Franchises could see big enhancements. Zelda U could definitely be big but AC should improve a ton too. Imagine the potential of an online Animal Crossing world with updated HD graphics, AI improvement for the towns people, and a ton of detail. AC could benefit more from the extra power than Zelda...

An online animal crossing would be awesome, but isn't Animal Crossing a single player game? Or do you mean like having a multiplayer server similar to minecraft with each person having their own house.

My God I just realized how powerful of a system seller this would be with older women.Holy crap. You all work together to build like a little town. If that ever happens I'm getting that.

Yes, online similar to Minecraft. I think the sales for AC have been decreasing with every game in the U.S due to all of them being pretty similar. I think New Leaf & the Wii U version will change the formula a bit.

Since Nintendogs and Brain Training failed in Japan as well as in the West, I don't see why AC would sell at a breakneck pace in Japan and flop in the West.
I see it doing fine. Much better than the DS one even in the West.

AC sales have been dropping in the west. GC AC sold better than Wii AC and Wii version was released Holidays 2008 when Wii was exploding.

Yes, but the Wii AC failed worldwide. In Japan, it did only slightly better than the GC one. Despite this, the 3DS AC smashed records there just recently. This proves that it's not that AC is necessarily declining, but that the Wii AC was a pretty big failure.

or that AC is better suited for portable use.

Looking at the Wild World numbers, I'm quite surprised that it sold better in EU than in NA. I never knew anyone that played it, I wonder how New Leaf will do comparing NA and EU.

That, too. But it doesn't explain why the GC AC had pretty decent sales and the Wii AC had pretty poor.

Which is why I doubt that a WiiU AC will never possibly sell better than HD zelda on WiiU

I wouldn't exactly consider 4 Million poor sales. Yeah, compared to Wild World but overall it sold very well. Better than Metroid, Pokemon, Paper Mario, Kirby, and even Zelda (SS) on the Wii. It has become a very important franchise for Nintendo.

I think he was refering to why the sales decreased.

He said that the Handheld games always sell more but it still didn't explain why the GC version had decent sales while the Wii version sold pretty poor. I understand that the sales on the Wii were less impressive than sales on the GC due to the user-base size. My point was that AC City Folk still sold over 4 Million and outsold many of Nintendo's other big franchises and that sales were very strong.

By the way, I mean this in a nice way but...your bet / Prediction is incredibly dumb. It's fun making predictions and stuff and I predict a lot of things that end up going the complete opposit of what I predicted! I am not good at it but still do it anyway. With that said, I am sure that you will lose this bet. Animal Crossing has grown so much as a Franchise since 2005 when Wild World was first released. Unlike Nintendogs or Brain Age, AC has received an actual core following. AC has a very wide appeal, it isn't mainly women like you say. I have friends and family members who typically play Shooters like COD & Halo, their favorite Nintendo franchise besides Super Smash Bros is Animal Crossing. It will easily sell over 1 Million in the U.S by years end let alone 600K

We'll see, if I'm wrong, good for Nintendo. Lifetime sales will be lower here than WW without a doubt.
