Forums - Sony - The problem with the Vita.

The problem is that people is unaware of the games and its features, and its price.

The one game I'm looking forward to for the Vita this year is Dragon's Crown (<3 VanillaWare)... but then again, it's also going to release simultaneously on PS3.

But yes, the deck that Nintendo holds when it comes to 2013 3DS releases is mightily impressive. There's no denying that.

Closest thing to Shadow Over Mystara I've seen since 1996, and you know how high that game ranked on my list . However Kamitani worked on Tower of Doom so I'm not surprised.

Now I have to convince someone to get the game because I don't have the money to play it... obviously for PS3 (local multiplayer FTW).

The real problem of the Vita is that the PSP looked better in terms of hardware sales than the overall market for software sales indicated and there was no longer a hole in the market because the 3DS can do what the DS couldn't. You don't need a PSP for a PMP anymore and if you buy a 3DS you aren't shut out of the titles that you missed out on if you owned just a DS.

Tease.

Sony doesn't own any "I need to buy that console just for that game!" franchises. The only examples of "I need to buy that consume just for that game!" franchises I can think of are Mario, Pokemon and to a lesser extent Halo.*

*I'm only talking about exclusives

That is the exact reason it should of been a phone. (yes I've been saying this for almost a year now)

By this do you mean that it should've been a decicated gaming handheld that runs android OS and can make calls, etc.? If so, I think that would've also failed. Consumers wouldn't buy £50 games when they could buy equally fun games for FREE on the Android app store

What the hell, man? It sucks that this thread's gonna get as many replies as it will.

4 ≈ One

Price:

$250 is just too much to ask for a dedicated gaming handheld.

iPads cost $500, but they do more than just games. iPhones play games, make calls and a multitude of other features.

Making a Vita phone would have also been a disaster. Not even an iPhone can last over 2+ hours when playing games. What makes anyone think gamers would want a gaming phone that taps out at 2 hours? Not to mention it's resources would also be tapped for the phone features nobody would want because why would you want a phone with analog sticks? It would be a frankestein monster.

Looking back now, they could have done without the back touch panel. That alone could have reduced the price by ~$30+ and allowed them to launch a WiFi model at ~$200 and a possible cut this year to $170.

What I have learned with my time using the Vita is that my fingers always rest on the back touch and if the game made any use of it I ended up getting annoyed because I would need to curl my fingers inwards just to prevent myself from touching it.

I think it was a mistake.

What Vita needs is a $170 price tag and games to cost between $30-$35, not an average launching price of $40+. Not to mention it should have used standard Micro SD cards.

Everything is just so expensive when it comes to the Vita. It's a real turn off.

Other than that I actually think the software on the way is quite good. Plenty of games in the style I prefer.

Because every human is the kid of some other human.

Makes perfect sense actually.

Me and my fiance still love pokemon and while we are each 28 & 26 respectively, we are in fact still "kids".

Your brilliance knows no bounds.
