Wasn't the 3DS in a similar situation though, with little support early on?

Look for the next Nintendo Direct for new announcement. I don't know why Nintendo is waiting until the very last moment to announce new games: it only causes worries amongst early adopters and critizism from others. Can't say they're handling this very well...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

That's true, pretty much everyone was down on the 3DS, and with good reason.  The months following launch were dry as a bone.  If anything, that should tells us that you can't judge a console by the first year.  Still, didn't Nintendo say something about having learned some lessons with the 3DS?

No, not at all, it got support. You can check it here http://news.dengeki.com/soft/schedule/?nav

Wii U's situation is terrible if 3D's situation was bad. In the 3 months leading the first release month, the 3DS had 25 games released. Wii U will only have 2, and both ports.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Japan already got Ninja Gaiden and Monster Hunter. Why they get Scribblenauts, Rayman, Aliens, Sing Party later or nnot at all is beyond my understanding.

None of those would be important for Japan, but will at least save the console from an embarrassing drought. This site has all the upcoming japanese relases, but it's in Japanese, either way it's an easy site to navigate.

They should have just paid Square-Enix to make a single-player offline quest in Dragon Quest X for Wii U. Once you complete it, you move onto the online game.

That would get sales going. Other than that, it's probably the same ol', same ol' ... wait for Mario Kart/3D Mario in the fall.

Japan is not that big of a market plus Japanese publishers are now starting to make more western games than Japanese games.

It's really weird to think of the birthplace of the modern video game console and the home country of two-thirds of the "big three" this way, but... look at this past generation's sale numbers. Add them up by region.

Japan represented less of the home console market than the "Rest of World" regions... damn.

It's a different story on handhelds, of course, but still... damn.

Come E3 there will be a heap of games on show.
