Forums - Sony - The Vita is a year old now, how is it doing?

Horribly. Dismally. Abysmally. Horrendously. Atrociously. Horrifically. Terribly.

I think that things have finally settled down. Assassins Creed became a nice little hit and the system is selling well in the West.

I have a good feeling about the vita now. Big games on their way as well?

Not to be overly negative but how is it doing well in the west? If you look at the sales pace of the Vita sales continued to decline up to Christmas. Of course the holidays gave it a boost. But you have to ignore the holiday sales spike if you want to judge the sales trend of a console. And the Vita did not have momentum - its weekly sales dropped until the holidays kicked in. It was outsold by the Wii and the DS and those are dead systems with no new games.

So for this year sales have been really bad. It is selling slower than the Gamecube and Xbox did worldwide so it's currently on pace to sell <20m units lifetime. The real question is: how will it do next year? And I expect it to sell better in 2013. Not spectacular but 7m units should be doable, maybe 8m. So I have a - somewhat - good feeling about the Vita, too and agree with you there. Do you have a concrete prediction for 2013 sales?

Well the library is 10 times that of the 3DS which is currently a Mario machine. I'm enjoying mine much more than the psp, and certainly more than my 3ds.

Are you sure? I was in the GameStop where I live, and the Vita has a small corner to itself while the 3DS has a whole wall.

Its not very smart to talk about a library based on your gamestop...  there is less than 20% of the library  in that small corner, like in all the shop , so people not very smart ( sorry ) think " hey, there is no game on vita in my shop so there is no game on vita :) " , but eyh people, do you know something called " internet " to do some research ?

Please stop being a know-it-all. I don't even know how many games are even released on the Vita because I don't own the system. From what I saw on the shelf at the game store, there weren't that many games. Maybe around 20 to 30? I didn't get a good look because I was exiting the store that day.

So stop judging a hardware you dont know and dont want to know, its that you can called being a know-it-all ( but without know anything more than what you heard about your subject... )

The truth is right here : The 1 year Vita library  is very good, the only console which seems near to this library in 1 year was  gamecube.

Not the 3DS ( the first year of 3DS was very empty, there was none big game until the end of the year with only 2 mario ( big innovation ).

And the Wii U may have the same kind of good first year than the Vita if games are not delayed and if the system has a new nintendo IP innovating and very good game like Gravity Rush.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

It's selling poorly, which is a shame for such a nifty system. The price is too high and the games just aren't there, I guess.

And they aren't there. You can argue as much as you like (and the comments would suggest people are), and some good points are raised. But it doesn't matter because the average consumer, or 99% of the audience, will not care about when the system was released, they want the library now. It is unfair, yes, but I see few system sellers in the foreseeable future. And that will be the problem. A number of niche games or moderate hits won't sell the system, and isn't that the point?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Wrong, its also because of that kind of " i guess" totaly wrong that Vita doesnt sell like it worth.

3DS hits in one year : Mario kart, mario 3D land. Thats all for the exclusives games.

Vita exclusive hits in one year : Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Gravity RUsh, Little Big Planet, Ragnarok Odyssey, AC liberation

And nobody had a problem with 3DS  first year, so stop the bullshit with vita just because of "poor sales ".

Well why are the sales so poor?

Because according to you it's got a dreamteam lineup.

In reality, the "public" see those games you've mentioned for the Vita as watered down ports, even if they really aren't.

Just Holiday sale lol so still good for me. I think they will going to release more epic titles on 2013

It's doing great. Don't judge, it's only 1 year.

its doing bad.

Next year will be even worse.
