Anyone find it strange, that the vita performs best in north america? just never expected that

I wouldn't say 'best'. 'Least shit' is more appropriate.

OT: In Japan, when the 3DS was released the DS' sales took a huge nosedive and flat-lined. Why didn't that happen with the PSP when the Vita was released?

Vita doesn't have a UMD slot.  Japan still buys UMD PSP games.

@ bold, it's still the best of the three regions, whether labelling it otherwise is more appropriate or not.

Lol, shows that the 360 needs a price cut. Surprisingly high Ps3 sales knowing that it was because of the re design.

The 12gb PS3 has a lot to do with the sales it is getting this holiday season. Once it is released WW, there should be a healthy increase in PS3 sales.

I don't know if the Xbox really needs to cut it's price. It is still selling very well, and it is continously making money. They may wait until the next Xbox is announced before making any changes in price.

I dont know but a 12gb ps3seems like a rip off.

It's not any more of a rip off than the 4gig Xbox 360. It's an affordable entry-level PS3. The hard drive is easily upgradeable, no propriatary format like Xbox 360...

I'd say the Wii U sales in EU is very bleak... 60k in it's third week?? That's no where good.

It does *look* bleak, that's my point. Appearances are deceiving.

Xbox 360 3rd week: 71,000

Wii 3rd week: 155,000

PS3 3rd week: 69,000

3DS 3rd week: 57,000

Vita 3rd week: 43,000

Also, it's not 60k, it's just under 70k for Wii U. Which puts it right around where the 360 and PS3 sat.

The 360 did not come off of a market leader and basically only has the UK as a significant market in Europe (broken down numbers would likely show at least 40% of all sales being in the UK at the time), the PS3 did not launch during the holidays (and cost 600$...), the Wii apparently doubled the numbers even with massive supply issues. The Vita has never been relevant in PAL regions and also launched in February, right along the new years lull, same goes for the 3DS, which has been a lot smaller in PAL regions as well.

The Wii U has good supply in Europe, it has launched in the midst of the best time of year, it launched with a behemoth title (New Super Mario Bros U) as well as some decent 3rd party ports and multiplats and the price is relatively low for a launch console.

There is no way to spin these numbers to an good level for the Wii U in Europe, it appears to be doing pretty badly no matter how one looks at it and what you compare it to.

I'm pretty sure the price of the WiiU in europe and the "others" region is the main factor contributing to the low sales.

In my region (which is closely related to europe prices) the WiiU is significantly more expensive than the PS3, which in turn is more expensive than the 360 which is significantly more expensive than the Wii.

I was shocked when i saw the price of the WiiU in my country especially after i heard that the WiiU would release in the states at $299 and $349.

Wii was 249$ in the US and 249€ in europe. WiiU is 299$ and 349$ in the US and and 299€ and 349€ in europe. So why is the price a problem in Europe, but not in the US?

Sorry. I'm not from Europe so maybe i was wrong to talk about europe. Although Kemsus from Denmark seemed to agree with the price thing.

Yes, I was talking more about the Euro-zone. Denmark has its own currency.

Because one euro is not $1, a euro is roughly $1.30, meaning Europeans actually pay more. 300 euros is nearly $400, which is 33% more expensive! don't you see that as a problem. VAT is included in European goods prices but we are still ripped off

I know. We europeans get ripped off. But it was the same with the Wii and the same with Sony's offerings. But WiiU does bad specifically in europe compared with the Wii.

Maybe we ran out of money to buy newly launched consoles like Wii U

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

European Wii U sales are even more disappointing this week, that's a shame. Wii & DS seem to be holding on for dear life. xD Nice sales for 3DS though, it looks like it might be up YoY, as long as next week is still strong.

Like many others before me, I'll remain sceptic... To me it seems like Eu has abandoned Nintendo...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It`s not doing wellin Europe but let`s wait for next year to see if it`s the other consoles, with their offerings, that are hurting Wii U or if the market really isn`t willing to support Wii U.

Nice, but not exceptional week. Waiting for complete global data to say more, but it looks like everyone was stronger last Xmas, including Ninty that still hadn't Wii U, while Wii was already declining.
PS3 enjoys the smallest YoY drop.
PSV is a dwarf, but slowly growing. It will need a price cut during Q1 or early Q2 2013 to do better.
