Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo Financial Report is IN

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2007/070426.pdf

It's in Japanese so if there are any Japanese members reading could you please translate the important parts for us :)

What I can get from this is that Nintendo hasn't sold over 6million Wii's since launch, I think it says 5.84 which makes this site off DRASTICALLY for other.

Tid bits from the report...

ENGLISH VERSION - http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2007/070426e.pdf

For the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2007, Nintendo projects sales of 14 million Wii systems and 55 million games worldwide.

That's a 20 million prediction by the end of next fiscal year, Johnlucas is a bit optimistic (by 3 months) with his 20 million number, but not bad. That gives 1.2 million produced and sold a month.

The company projects sales of 22 million Nintendo DS hardware unit sales and 130 million software units sales. Nintendo forecasts consolidated sales increasing nearly 18 percent to 1.14 trillion yen, and operating profits growing nearly 20 percent to 270 billion yen.

“ Nintendogs ”
continued to enjoy favorable sales overseas, reaching a total of 6.95 million sales units (13.6 million units life-to-date).

Net income rose to 174.3 billion yen ($1.5 billion) in the year ended March 31, from 98.4 billion yen a year earlier, the Kyoto-based company said in a statement today. A greater-than- expected decline in the yen against the euro and dollar lifted profit by about 20 billion yen, the company said this month.

The company's touch-screen DS player and titles such as Nintendogs, an interactive pet game, are helping Nintendo secure its dominance over Sony Corp.'s PlayStation Portable device. The Wii console is also outselling Sony's PlayStation 3 by two to one in the U.S. and six to one Japan.

Japan 2,000,000
NA 2,370,000
Other 1,470,000

Total 5,840,000

A rise in profit with 77%?? Damn Nintendo had a great year

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

americans sure buy a lot of games:

Wii:

Japan: 6,120,000   (on 2,000,000 wiis shipped)

Americas: 14,490,000  (on 2,370,000 wiis)

Others: 8,230,000 (on 1,470,000 wiis)

projected sales: 22 mln DS's and 14 mln wii's

14 mln wiis seem a little low... hopefully they're being conservative with their estimates.

the Wii is an epidemic.

14 million in the next financial year, that makes it 20 million all up by end of march 2008.

I think it's conservative, but maybe they are manufacturing limited.

Neat, I didn't know Japanese still counted years based on when the current emperor ascended to the throne.  I have no idea what the specifics of the report are but I sure saw a lot of up triangles littered throughout it.

A couple of things that do stand out to me, if Nintendo's expectations are correct then this time next year the Wii will be surpassing the GameCubes total install base after less than 18 months on the market.  If I'm not mistaken the list is Japan at top, NA below, and others below that, based on that why is the software attach rate so low in Japan?  I always thought they were game freaks who did nothing but buy 100 games for every system they own (and that's just counting Final Fantasy games).  Yet the Wii attach rates are roughly (JP/NA/Others) 3/6/6, GC- 7/11/9, DS- 4/5/4, GBA- 4/5/4.

Anyways, great times for the Big N, go team, ra ra ra, and all that.
