#40 - Ape Escape (PS1)

As guessed by no-one!  So yeah, I thought my clue was apt, but no-one seemed to see it.  The first mandatory dual-analogue control for a game, at least as far as I'm aware of.  And it was glorious.  Hilarious monkeys; enjoyable platforming; interesting environments; a silly but amusing plot and a whole host of other things just made Ape Escape an absolute treat.  Plus, as I mentioned, the way the controls were mapped felt like a real innovation, however small, at the time.  Camera control suffered for it but it was well worth it.

Clue for my #39 - Arguably the most obscure game on my list.  Based on a TV show.  Never released in North America.  Set in a hotel.  Other guests included a lizard nurse with a giant syringe, a dog with an axe in his head and a cat with his eyes stitched up.  Fucked up but absolutely amazing.

40) Crash 3: Warped (PS1 / 1998 / Platformer)

The last great game in that series. Controls and plays remarkably well to this day, which is unfortunately true of very few PS1 games, designed as they were before anyone really understood how to control a 3D world with a gamepad.

Game 39 is one that I like but I imagine amp316 would not.

It is from Gen 6 (is that officially two gens ago now, with the Wii U release?)

My 41 was:

Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Campaign was great but the multiplayer is what really rocked, mixing lightsaber combat with FPS gunplay wit force/Sith powers was madness.

My 40:  PC RPG mainly played online.

That suggests it has a single player. Diablo 2? Neverwinter Nights?

#40 - Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is a great entry in the Star Wars franchise. I like the entire Jedi Knight series (from Dark Forces to Jedi Academy), but Jedi Outcast is the best of the five. Star Wars games are often hit or miss anyway, and Jedi Knight has always been a bright spot. Since Lightsabers and Force Powers are always awesome, the weapons and the whole first-person shooter (the genre which it officially belongs to) aspect of this game are mostly unused. Due to it's use of the Quake 3 Engine, gameplay and control is flawless and there isn't much that has surpassed it (and other Q3E games) in it's genre to this day. Even though I've played through this game many times, it is still one I pop in every once in a while.

#39 - ?
The view out this window is great, it's a little wet outside though...

41. Muramasa: Demon Blade

I wasn't sure if this was even going to be on the list since the story is a bit disjointed and it has some difficulty spikes that kinda diminish enjoyment in one playthrough, but it still is incredibly fun with a ton of uniqueness and style. I'm glad I pulled out my Wii this year and finished it.

40. This is the first of what I hope many Vita games to come that may grace this list.

Tales of Innocence R

Persona 4 Golden

Hatsune Miku game forgot the name

Haven't played Innocence and P4Golden isn't eligible.

My #40 is so incredibly easy to guess. Somebody, anybody guess it.

You said Vita, but that doesn't really help.

How does that not help? I guess it's some extra work, but I link to my game collection in my signature. Only beaten 2 or 3 vita games. Should be an easy give away (especially considering there's only really been two Vita games that you could probably attach this onto).

Ragnarok Odyssey?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

My 40th turned out to be Super Mario 3D Land which was correctly guessed by Mr Khan.

When I first played the game, I had alot of mixed feelings. Like for example that the game is almost solely made for the Tanooki suit, which dissapointed me a little. The other negative  part was the extra 8 worlds. Almost all of the levels were basically challenge levels.

However what made the game fun was the awesome gameplay that almost every Mario game contains and the game prooved to be worth my money, as I have clocked in almost 40 hours of gameplay. I enjoyed the game much and will probably play it again in the near future.

Hint for my 39th is:

A journey of two "musical" animals.
