26. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)

Dropping from 23rd, this game was half the reason I got the system and it did not disappoint for a moment.  Given the limits of the system it's amazing how much content is in this game.  It sometimes seems like games have offered less and less as years go on (my actual theory is that I just go through games quicker these days).  Playing around with all of the items until you got the hang of what to use in every situation was fun on its on.  The dungeons did a good job of guiding you without skipping on the puzzle of making it through successfully.  Finding items that aren't needed but were helpful was often as fun as the main quest itself.  The bosses for the most part each had some quirk for how to damage them without seeming unfair.  The story was about average but they did a good job of setting up the lore of the world.  This was the first time I got to swing around with a hookshot in a 3d game, which I enjoyed thoroughly.

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

The other mod

Scoobes is Banned: The Game?

My #26 is GoldenEye 007 (1997).

Before the release of GoldenEye 007, most first-person shooters were corridor shooters that had one simple philosophy: shoot first, ask questions later. These shooters, mostly clones of Doom, asked their owners to shoot everything that moved, and little else. GoldenEye changed the prevailing paradigm by introducing mission objectives that demanded a combination of firepower and brainpower. GoldenEye is perhaps most famous for its legendary multiplayer modes, which allow four friends (or enemies) to shoot at each other in a number of environments with a variety of weapons. The legacy of GoldenEye is most evident when this fact is considered: console games released post-GoldenEye which did not feature a multiplayer mode were considered somehow incomplete.

Clue for #25:

This game was released for SNES and Genesis, and features some new modes that the arcade original didn't have.

Mortal Kombat 2?

Very close. Right genre. Wrong franchise.

Newer. And on another handheld .

I was doubting if I should say 'relatively new' or just ' new'. Also, I could add a sentence to the clue but I fear what I have in mind gives too much away. Maybe in 12 hours...

lol, resident evil revelations. probably the best portable version of a big console series which beats it's brothers in everything bar sales.

Very good.

RE: Revelations is correct! And I agree, even though I haven't played RE 5 and 6 and definitely haven't played Raccoon City every person's opinion of these games versus Revelations speak for themselves. Great game.

#25 - Team Fortress 2 (PC)

As guessed  by Ganoncrotch!   TF2 surprised me in an increasingly surprising Orange Box by being an insanely addicted, lightweight yet deep, customisable and brilliant  first person shooter.  Perfect to play over Steam with some friends, the class-based system just works so perfectly with each being strong against some but weak against others, with a good player being able to take on all comers.  Really enjoyable and something I still play regularly to this day.

Clue for my #24 - European PS1 launch title featuring a robotic rabbit in crazy first-person-platforming antics.

Haha. It is good that we, since recently, are befriended.

I didn't think of this game when I was making my list so it won't be on there, but I played this game quite a bit for a short time after it came out. I will never forget all your people celebrating by jumping around in joy and praying to you when you had completed a level!

I played it (still have it I think, not sure) because it was made by Bullfrog, and being a fan of Theme Hospital I figures; this gonna be good!

Haha, I thought you might have approved of this one :)

Bullfrog were definitely on a roll in the late 90's, this game had its share of problems but it was still a really unique take on god games and really enjoyable.  Glad to see another fan around!
