I am honest, this is going a bit too much Ubisoft these games always end up in a cliffhanger and nothing you did during gameplay matters, and the cliffhangers always lead to other bullshit cliffhangers, and the same "Mystery" that should have ended with AC2 is still going on, Yes i am talking about Juno and yes the ending is shit still, so Don't buy this game, its not even fun, and very easy, and also its exactly the same as other AC games minus the settings. (oh and useless animals lolololol)

this isn't Red Dead Redemption AC Style, its Ubisoft trying to rip you off again with pointless sequels.

I am finding I can do what you said with just about every single player release out there, that isn't sandbox focused, or has decent multiplayer.  Anything story-driven I can hop on YouTube, watch the ending, and not feel like I really missed anything.  Any game based around story, I am able to watch.  Not sure why I shouldn't keep doing this, unless people think if everyone does it, that means the videogame industry will die off.  Well, maybe if they offer me more replayability single player, I wouldn't feel inclined to do this.

The game is sandbox, but is at odds with itself with all it tries to be. The linear story confuses the user into story on the path rather than exploring all the fruits the game has to offer. Because I was so trained to stay on path by the storyline I went through the whole game without caring for the upgrades, jobs, artisans or anything else.

I don't think the story is linear at all, IMO. I have played the game for around 12 hours and I am only on sequence 8.  Yes, the first 4 sequences were pretty linear, but it is not hard for me to do some stuff on the side while traveling to the next mission. I don't think I will beat the game for another few days.

The main missions are linear, the sequencing puts a COD like hold on you and you cannot break it until you finish the mission. After that you are free to roam.

Haven't they always been that way.  Sequence 8 was by far the most linear, but I understand what you mean.

They have all been that way but this game in particular is asking for less than 200% sync on half of the missions. Sequence 1-5 were hella linear. After that I couldnt care less about exploring unless it was to hunt in between getting from one mission to another.

I guess if I want a well told story I read a book. If I want to play a video game, I don't read a book. Good luck with your angst. There is a whole lot more, fundamentally, wrong with the progression of video games than whether or not some half-baked, poorly written storyline ever finds its way to conclusion. But good for you for caring.

- Terrible storytelling. So rushed.
- Bad graphics
- Bad framerate (360)
- Glitchy (most glitches i have seen in a game in a couple years)

Worst game of the Year for me so far. Not worth the 85 it has on meta.
Will be skipping out on any more AssCreed for a long time. Worst of the "big" franchises, Ubi needs to switch to a 2-3 year dev time.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

I've rented every AC game and will continue to. They should just end and ditch the Desmond crap anyway, nearly everyone loved Ezio in the AC2 arc, not Desmond..

I didn't care for Ezio at all. I really wished he wasn't in brotherhood or revelations. I like the Desmond sequences though. And the Altair parts in revelations..

i Find it hard to say but I'm thinking Blops 2 is going to be more polished and more fun to play than AC3, and that series is milked to hell.

I'm disappointed such a thread turned up, if you want the game just buy it, if not don't , but don't try and spoil it.

Singling out Assassin's Creed and saying Ubisoft want to rip you off is just bull, you can see how much effort they put into making the game, when you play it and it's so worth it. But if you say Ubisoft want to rip you off, then what about developers of other yearly franchises, EA- FIFA, madden, Need for speed etc. Activision- Call of Duty Sega- Sonic Nintendo- Mario etc.

They are not rip offs, as people enjoy these games and they change every year, not one AC is the same.

but the thing is, its the same as the last game, only different settings, so not much effort put into it.

for a game that is heavy on its story, having the story to be its weak points, is kind of a gamebreaker don't you think?

The new need for speed is excellent by the way, its totally different from last years need for speed, same for CoD , Last year's Sonic was awesome, Mario i don't know.

sport games are sport games they're like that.

Assassin Creed III  may be similiar to last years Assassin creed but what was kept the same was done right in the first place, it's added stuff that was more to do with the world, stuff like animals and the environment around you are big here. But when it comes to an AC, i don't pay to much attention to the story, it has never made any sense to me.

I guess making it a yearly release is putting a toll on development (thank god that won't happen to GTA!, which will always be every other year)

But I still like Assassins Creed III, i think it's a brilliant game and I don't know why people don't like it.

But as for need for speed and call of duty, yes they are different to previous versions but they are still yearly (which i don't think is really long enough to develop games). They both seem to be good too.

This has been a pretty terrible year for gaming ether way. Next gen is way past due.
