The Galaxy is Samsungs only smartphone line their other smart phone the Samsung Infuse was replaced by the Samsung Galaxy S.  Also Samsung sold more cell phones last year 314 million then Apple has sold iPhones since they launched.  Also Samsung is on pace to overtake Nokia as the market leader in cell phones if not this year then next year for sure.

1) 50.2 million = Galaxy + Windows Phone + Windows Mobile + All others Android. There are a lot more smartphones made by Samsung than Galaxy. Out of 177 phones sold by Samsung 28 are Galaxy.

2) Yes I alreday said Samsung sells more phones than Apple but iPhone sells more than Galaxy only.

Anyway the lifetime figures to iPhone is 271.1 million units as end of Sep... iPhone 5 is set to double this number (500 million lifetime before iPhone 6?).

PS. I checked just the Samsung US store... there are more than 177 phones but you get my point.

I give Apple credit for being the most valuable company on paper based mostly on hype and halfway decent sales but when it come to the Galaxy versus iPhone.  The Galaxy is the clear winner.  Apple isn't even advertising the iPhone 5 on TV in the US because they know they are rapidly loosing marketshare to the Galaxy and other android phones in general.  Also those 28 different Galaxy models are pretty much Samsung's smart phone lineup since the Infuse got discontined and replaced by the Galaxy S.

Oh man, that's rich. "Apple is valuable only on paper", "Apple doesn't advertise on TV because they're losing marketshare".

It must be awesome living with that kind of delusion.

You do realize that the S3 isn't the only Galaxy out on the market right now.  I guess you have Samsung confused with Apple since they are usually only have one model on the market.

Logic isn't your strongest suit, is it?

Ah, I see. To avoid being wrong, you are now expanding the argument to include about 25 different phones and calling them "one smartphone".

Does that mean I won? Because in any world where someone considers the 5.5" Note II the same smartphone as the Galaxy S3 Mini (even though the phones share literally NOTHING in common outside of the operating system, which isn't even made by Samsung), I'm pretty sure that means I won.

What you're doing is akin to saying that the PS3 has outsold the Xbox 360, except you're separating Xbox 360 Slim sales from other 360 sales while adding PS2 sales to the PS3 total.

It's completely fucking illogical.

"I find the Android OS more easily maneuverable than iOS, for basic reasons such as the presence of a pull down menu listing your apps in use, and the presence of a back button on the phone instead of having to hunt for an arrow within each app to return to the previous screen. Other little things bother me about iOS 6, such as the more difficult steps you must take to sign out of some apps that are operating in the background. " - Yes, this is a quote I stole that I agree with.

Also, that battery comment is blatantly false. My brother has an iPhone 5 and has to charge it each day, because it doesn't last two days. Also basically all tests have shown that the comparable phone Galaxy S3's battery life greatly outshines the iPhone 5's. I mean, it's beaten easily by many of the biggest Android phones.

Not hard to figure out how this test was misleading. By setting brightness to maximum, you handicap a phone just for having a more powerful backlight. The iPhone 5 display is twice as bright at maximum as the SGS3:

Which is why Anandtech calibrates all displays to 200 nits before doing battery tests like this:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6330/the-iphone-5-review/13

Now the iPhone 5 on 3G lands between two different SGS3 SKUs on 3G, and gains almost double battery life if you put it on an LTE network.

As for market share, Android certainly has it. Not really sure if it's doing any good, since even Google seems to make more money from iOS than they do from Android:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/mar/29/google-earns-more-iphone-android

Assertions that any day now developers are going to make Android their lead mobile platform sound an awful lot like Wii fans like me in 2008. Desite iOS being a "niche player," Apple and their software partners are still growing and still making more money in mobile than anybody else. The App Store is grossing $5.8 billion per year now.

I can second this test. On a normal day, my iPhone 5 is put away for the night with between 1/2 to 1/3 of its battery left. If I use it heavily throughout the day, I can kill the battery right around the time I go to sleep. At my current contract job, I have a ~45 minute bus ride each direction and my phone goes from 6:30am-9:30pm off the charger (15 hours).

Considering its package size, screen, and resolution, the iPhone 5's battery life is pretty stellar.

Even if Android was just Samsung, Android would still sell better than iOS

The Samsung Galaxy is the best selling smart phone it pretty much destroys the Iphone in sales.

Yeah easily, I heard galaxy s2 and s3 sold at least 20 million each. With all the other Samsung phones as well, it would be easy to outsell apple

I guess you didn't look at the chart at the begining of the thread it clearly shows that Apple is losing market.  Also the only people that are delusional are blind Apple fans like you.

Why is it illogical the people that brag about iPhone sales usually talk about more then one model.  The Note II and S3 might be different phones but they both carry the Galaxy name.  Not only does the Galaxy sell more because it has more diverse lineup it also sells more because it is available by more cell phone carriers both in the US and overseas.

So what? I've predicted that Apple would "lose" to Android for three years. There is simply no way to compete with a company that offers hundreds of models in an open system when your business strategy is to control both hardware and software.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the iPhone or the fact that it's the best selling SMARTPHONE (not smartphone line, singular smartphone) on the market.

I'm glad Apple is not the market leader. Competition is good, not bad.
