There are lots of variations, like i9001 Galaxy S plus  etc. which are basically the same phone for different carriers, markets etc. 

By that logic I can safely say that XBOX 360 is at 70 million while PS3 is only 30 million. PS3 is dead, everybody is buying 360 etc. Can't bother.


I guess ethzomas doesn't like to deal with facts just the Forbes article alone proofs that the Galaxy has sold more then the iPhone and it doesnt even include the latest numbers.

The Forbes article uses IDC.. IDC uses shipment data from Apple and Samsung... now we are talking about sales but the IDC reports is all Samsumg smartphones not only Galaxy.

All iPhone = 26 million

I agree Samsung sell more smartphones... I don't agree Samsung sell more Galaxy phones than iPhone.

 And about iPhone sells around 100 million per year... well shipments... see the table:

Think back to the mid-80s for a moment. This is history repeating itself.

Macintosh in those days had an OS that they more or less locked down and only allowed specific individuals to really make stuff for it if they got a hold of a license. It's not the same these days, as you can program for it at people's leisure, but back then it was NOT easy to make programs for Macs. With iOS, every program needs to be accepted to their standards and must go through their screening process.

Meanwhile, you have Android. They are the IBM and onward PCs that were more or less open source and you could do whatever the hell you want with. People program for it, go the route they want and nothing really stops it. No screening process that needs to be gone through. In turn, Android is growing at an alarming rate and is absolutely owning the market share. Macs today still barely manage 10% market share in the desktop and laptop computer market. iPhones are doing slightly better, but not by very much.


The process that constantly failes and then we have PHONE GAME  and it gets pulled   and Mario Ripoffs etc.  Apple clearly uses the money the earn for something else than quality control (iphone5) or the screening process.   It all goes into the marketing department and into some peoples pockets...

Edit: how dumb of me to forget the most important department.   You know the one that constantly sues every person on the planet for stupid reasons ;)

You do realize that the S3 isn't the only Galaxy out on the market right now.  I guess you have Samsung confused with Apple since they are usually only have one model on the market.

The Galaxy is Samsungs only smartphone line their other smart phone the Samsung Infuse was replaced by the Samsung Galaxy S.  Also Samsung sold more cell phones last year 314 million then Apple has sold iPhones since they launched.  Also Samsung is on pace to overtake Nokia as the market leader in cell phones if not this year then next year for sure.

1) 50.2 million = Galaxy + Windows Phone + Windows Mobile + All others Android. There are a lot more smartphones made by Samsung than Galaxy. Out of 177 phones sold by Samsung 28 are Galaxy.

2) Yes I alreday said Samsung sells more phones than Apple but iPhone sells more than Galaxy only.

Anyway the lifetime figures to iPhone is 271.1 million units as end of Sep... iPhone 5 is set to double this number (500 million lifetime before iPhone 6?).

PS. I checked just the Samsung US store... there are more than 177 phones but you get my point.
